Former President George H. W. Bush hospitalized

Source: Reuters

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Former President George H. W. Bush is being treated at Methodist Hospital in Houston, hospital spokeswoman Stephanie Asin said Thursday.

No other information was immediately available from the hospital, but Asin said she would provide more details later Thursday. A spokesman for Bush could not immediately be reached for comment.

The Houston Chronicle reported Thursday that Bush, 88, has a chronic cough and that his condition is not life-threatening. He has been in the hospital for a week and is expected to be released this weekend, the newspaper reported.

Bush, a Republican and the 41st president, took office in 1989 and lost his re-election bid in 1992 to Democrat Bill Clinton. The father of former President George W. Bush, he served as a congressman, U.N. ambassador, envoy to China, CIA director and was two-term vice president under Ronald Reagan.

Do you really thing that GHWB is on Medicare? You mean he goes to a doctor that is not satisfied with what pittance of a payment he receives for caring for him. Answer: HELL NO.

He need not worry about things like Medicare believe me. If he was on Medicare, he wouldn't be in the hospital for one thing unless he was about ready to die IMO.

GHWB will never see the disenfranchisement of Medicare for two reasons...

As a former president, he has taxpayer funded for life, remember DarthCheney's heart? And even if he didn't have taxpayer funded medicare, he has a shitload of life insurance that he bought while we paid him to be a career public servant.

I think he's relying on the federal insurance and possibly some private policy as well. I'm almost (because I'm financially destitute) willing to bet his Drs. don't even accept Medicare.

Nov 2012

By Elizabeth Chuck and Jamie Gangel, NBC News

... Bush, 88, has been suffering from a severe cough, and he’s been in and out of the hospital for the last couple of weeks. He was admitted out of "an abundance of caution" due to his age, a source close to the family told NBC News.

"President Bush has been in and out of The Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center being treated for complications related to his bronchitis. He is in stable condition, and is expected to be released within the next 72 hours," Methodist Hospital said in a statement Thursday.

Bronchitis is a common condition in which the bronchial tubes in the lungs become inflamed and produce mucus, which creates the need to cough, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It can turn serious in people with weak immune systems, including children and the elderly. Symptoms such as chest pain, weakness and coughing typically last two weeks, but can linger for as much as two months ...

Bush's political opinions (did he ever have any?) are not the total sum of his parts.

His unspeakable crimes against humanity are far more significant, and will never be put to rest. To speak truth on this monster of monsters is not shitty, hateful or vicious... it is essential.

My real name is Nicholas Levis.

I don't want Bush to die. I want to see him as Defendant Number 1 before the modern Nuremberg tribunal, as he deserves -- and as do we, if we ever want our history restored.

So, it can seem like a chronic cough but can develop into something worse, especially in an 88 year old.

I'm curious about where are the photos of the loving family, wife, children and grandchildren visiting him in the hospital or even talking to the press about how he's doing? It seems he's been sick for a couple of weeks now, in and out of the hospital.

If he's been that sick for that long, it seems his immune system is shutting down. Why isn't there more concern from those who should be concerned?
