Eric Hartsburg Plans To Remove Tattoo Of Romney On Face

The indignities of losing a presidential race don't stop on election night.

Since Nov. 6, Mitt Romney has seen his Facebook followers dwindle, and his merchandise land in the discount bin. Now, a professional wrestler with a Romney/Ryan logo facial tattoo is planning to remove it, calling Romney's post-campaign performance "pretty shameful." Eric Hartsburg told Politico the final straw came when the former GOP presidential candidate attributed his loss to President Barack Obama's "gifts" to minorities.

“It stands not only for a losing campaign, but for a sore loser,” Hartsburg said. “He’s pretty shameful as far as I’m concerned, man. There’s no dignity in blaming somebody else for buying votes and paying off people. I can’t get behind that or stay behind that.”

Hartsburg, who said he hoped the 5-by-2-inch tattoo would make politics more fun, had initially resigned himself to keeping the mark. “I’m the guy who has egg all over his face, but instead of egg, it’s a big Romney/Ryan tattoo. It’s there for life,” he told Politico after the election, saying he was a man of his word.

But the 30-year-old is now planning to fly to Los Angeles to have the tattoo removed, a year-long process. He hasn't ruled out getting another tattoo, maybe in 2016 when the "R" could do double duty for a potential Marco Rubio candidacy. Or, maybe, he said, he'll just get a yard sign next time.

This may have been a major money losing deal.

Fortunately he didn't get an Obama tattoo on his face, as some wingnut would either shoot him or beat him with a baseball bat.

A person who gets a tattoo doesn't owe the tattoo artist any obligation to keep the tattoo for the rest of their life-nor is it an injustice to the tattoo artist to remove the tattoo.

If the Romney campaign paid HIM to get the ink and keep it until he died, that's a different matter.

Besides, we don't know that the tattoo artist him or herself was a Romney supporter. Most tattooists don't take sides on the imagery they are asked to apply to the skin of their customers.

What would really be great, actually, would be if the artist had designed the tattoo so that, as the Romney stripes faded, the words "total" and "douche" emerged from beneath them.

Someone posted a video of a guy who worked THREE jobs and still thought he was part of the 53% Romney was appealing to.

Also, there's going to be some marks left behind, as removal is not perfect.

I know I'd rather look like the victim of a horrible disfiguring accident than a complete moran (sic).

He still has the other side in case Sarah Palin runs in 2016 though, so I hope he has someone who loves him enough to protect him from himself. Meanwhile, this is an example of Darwins theory on unnatural selection. He'll be much less likely to reproduce, thereby strengthening the gene pool of the human race.

Astounding, really--the laser just breaks up the ink; the body absorbs it and gets rid of it.

He was paid 10k or 15k to get it done. Here's a site that will remove it for likely less than 2k. I am sure those costs aren't unusual and I am sure this tool knew what the costs for removal were before he did it.

I actually think the guy was pretty clever getting this done I figure he made an easy 8k. The part that makes him a tool is believing in Romney in the first place.

when I watched an MSNBC special called "Removing Hate." It was about a reformed Skinhead who had all sorts of racist tattoos all over his body--including his face--and the Southern Poverty Law Center paid to have them all removed. It was a remarkable show, and the treatments caused the man much agony.

It did NOT cost $15,000 to get that thing put on there, so the couple grand it's going to cost to get it off will come out of Romney's money.

Hopefully the artist set his machine up really shallow.
