ATLANTA Police confirm to Channel 2 Action News that four students have been shot at an Atlanta high school.
Shortly after dismissal, shots were fired from an unknown vehicle, striking four students at Benjamin E. Mays High School lower campus parking lot, the district said in a statement.
NewsChopper 2 flew over the scene and saw a massive police presence at the school, crime scene tape up in the parking lot and what looks like evidence markers in the parking lot.
All victims were transported to the hospital and confirmed to have non-life-threatening injuries. No other students, faculty, or staff were injured. This matter continues to be under investigation, the district said.

Just in case,

(29,205 posts)every day is now an anniversary date of some other mass shooting.
And the place names by which we recall a mass shooting are running over each other.
Can't call yesterdays shooting at the Chiefs rally "The Kansas City Union Station Shooting" because that name is already taken.. by none other than Pretty Boy Floyd in the 1930s.

(1,301 posts)and saw what everyone believed at the time to be bullet holes from the massacre. A great story, and of course I thought they were real.
It has since been debunked.
The Union Station Massacre marks one of the most infamous dates in Kansas City history. Convicted mobster Frank Nash, under escort by a team of FBI agents and police officers, was shot and killed outside the Station during a shootout. Four law enforcement officers were also killed. There are marks on the front of the building that for years were claimed as bullet holes from the shooting, but tests by Kansas City, Mo. police recently showed the marks could not have come from bullets. However, the myth and the mystery of the incident live on. There were various theories that other mobsters had committed the crime, but the only man ever charged was Adam Richetti, who died in a Missouri gas chamber. As a result of the massacre, Congress strengthened the power of the FBI.

(29,205 posts)either at Crown Center or the Hyatt ( where I used to go to the tea dance... and then the sky way collapsed inside the Hyatt).
I happened to be on vacation in Denver that day ( of the Hyatt disaster ). I knew a few of the people killed because it was popular with all the employees at my company.
After that happened my company assisted the structural engineering firm that analyzed the disaster. What our analysis showed was that by cutting the suspension rods hung from the roof to the 2 sky ways below... the contractor cut the rods in half to make it easy to place the rods inside the dramatic lobby area... our analysis showed that it was a miracle they skyways even suspended their own weight much less the weight of people walking and, yes, dancing on them.
Asshole. I think he fled the country within days. The guy that decided that hiring a helicopter to lower the rather long support rods into the lobby from above was "too expensive" and cutting them and using a small crane to hand the rods from the ceiling to the first sky way... and then hanging the remainder (lower rods) from that sky way to the lower sky way would save a lot of money. Thus transferring the load from the ceiling girders to the upper walkway. Sigh.
A total of 114 were killed and 216 injured, 29 of whom were rescued from the rubble.
