Police release video of officer shooting boy, 11, who had called 911 for help

Source: NPR

Body camera video released by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation shows the moment an 11-year-old boy was shot and wounded by a police officer last May in his home after calling authorities for help.

Officials in Mississippi made the footage available this week after calls for its release from Aderrien Murry's mother, Nakala Murry, and the family's attorney.

at what point will municipalities start upping their cop-hiring game before they go completely broke from yokel members of the force with their 400 hours of training.

If it was pulled from a pension fund or local police budgets, it would dry up post haste.

since taxpayers fund municipalities. Drained coffers are drained coffers. I'm reading that Tucson, AZ went broke in '83 from a settlement. But maybe that point should be played up - how the taxpayer is on the hook for ill-prepared cops.

Hidden in some category such as "Public Welfare"

Get rid of "qualified immunity" for everyone working for the public. Everyone including LEO and the prosecutors should be able to be charged for crimes when they are the malfeasants.

I've heard local/state governments say they couldn't hire LEO if they couldn't offer immunity. Why would any law-abiding rule-following LEO want immunity. DO YOUR JOB AS DEFINED BY LAW and you'll be just fine.

Perhaps the laws proscribing these types of individuals are way too loose.
