Black Friday Violence: 2 Shot Outside Walmart, Scuffles Across U.S.
By ALYSSA NEWCOMB (@alyssanewcomb)
Nov. 23, 2012

Two people were shot outside a Walmart in Florida today, one of a rash of fights, robberies and other incidents that have cropped up on one of the most ballyhooed shopping days of the year.

The shooting took place at Walmart in Tallahassee about 12:30 p.m., said Dave Northway, public information officer for the Tallahassee Police Department.

He said a scuffle outside the store escalated into gunplay leaving two people shot. The two victims, whose names and genders have not been released, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police do not have a suspect at this time.

At a Walmart parking lot on Thanksgiving night in Covington, Wash., two people were run down by a driver police suspected of being intoxicated.

Every black Friday someone get hurt at this store.

They're either shot or trampled to death by the massive stamped of a crowd.

It's quite disgusting.

Walmart just gets the press.

My daughter works at a local super market a good 10 miles from the nearest Wally World, it's insane there this weekend too.

Is nothing sacred? Last night and today proved the holidays have slipped away from the general public and been completely bastardized by Big Business. The traditional meaning of Thanksgiving and Christmas both have been diluted by mass consumerism. Read more about the War on the Holidays and American Values being waged from the buildings of Wall Street at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-war-on-thanksgiving-one-turkeys.html where one Turkey gets his revenge for encroaching on Thanksgiving this year!

... watching as our country spirals down the hole of total consumerism chaos. This shows the true disadvantage of cheap labor in all sectors of our society. I am heartened, though, by so many coming out to protest today.

I HATE Xmas in the USA, and always have. I've recently been spending my Xmas's in Mexico..and it's like HEAVEN. All that "shop til' you drop" crap is a distant nightmare. No more. We simply celebrate the season, the nativity, the spirit and maybe go to Church...and that's it. NONE of that crazy ass fighting for a parking spot, road rage with wacko's, angry battles at the counter, unhappy recipients of empty gestures, etc, etc. I LOVE XMAS in Mexico.....never going back...never!!

My wife and I have minimized Christmas. We sit up by the fireplace all night long killing a few bottles of wine pondering the year. I've an accidental friend who's the kitchen cook/supervisor of a local soup kitchen, we watch for local sales and stock his pantry instead. (No shopping on Thanksgiving weekend.) A case of ketchup has more meaning.

Mexico sounds grand.

Two People Shot in Fight Over Wal Mart Parking Space

Witnesses tell us two couples were arguing and at some point a shopping cart hit the side of the car and a man stepped out and started shooting.

TPD Spokesman David Northway said, "On scene, officers located two victims who have suffered non-life threatening injuries and are currently being treated at a local hospital."

I sat home drank coffee and read the paper with the dogs. Better company.

I didn't buy anything material yesterday - Just a cup of coffee for me and a smog certification for my vehicle, both from small local businesses.

The era of cheap gasoline, big box stores and urban sprawl... it's all coming to an end.

The number one career for the next 20 years.. are you ready? Farmer.. food producer.

We are headed to a scaled-down, basic society, where food and drinking water will be the primary concerns.

So go ahead and tweet and text on face book, because when the electric grid fails.. none of that nonsense will work.

Your I-phones are going to be useless.. your ability to grow vegetables Will be worth much more.

Our infrastructure has been allowed to decay for so long... we may never recover. We have squandered BILLIONS on useless wars we have no business being involved in.

We are wasting BILLIONS on foreign aid and the war on terror.
