National Journal's Major Garrett has been named CBS News' chief White House correspondent, filling the position left vacant from Norah O'Donnell's move to CBS This Morning in August. Bob Schieffer announced the hire on Face the Nation Sunday morning.

Garrett was a frequent contributor to CBS News' election coverage as part of the news division's partnership with the National Journal. He will continue to write a column for the Journal as a correspondent at large after he starts at CBS Nov. 25.

Seriously! Washington Times, Fox and National Journal? How the hell do they get away with this shit? Can you imagine if CBS named a guy who worked for Mother Jones, The Nation and MSNBC to be in charge? The double standard continues to be effin' ridiculous.

You just hired Major Garrett, a major Right Wing mouthpiece, as your White House correspondent.

This is insulting to the great many moderate to Liberal patrons who watch your shows and read your media.

I and other Liberals consider this to indicate CBS News will be in the propaganda business for the next 4 years, and we know why: There has not been enough brainwashing of the good citizens of this nation by right wing zealots, as proven by the recent election, and so CBS News will do it's best to change that ...

For shame ..... We intend to make sure everybody understands where CBS resides in these matters - Right in the heart of the Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity bull$hit swamp ....

This will not be forgotten ....

XXX XXXXX

We stopped watching the pablum on ABC with Diane Sawyer (and her fuzzy lense)...can't take Brian Williams any more and have been watching Scott Pelley for about a year.

Guess we'll just be turning it off.

Shocking what an insult this is to those of us that just want neutral and honest reporting.

you on Major Garrett. He is a hack. It is about time Schieffer retire too. Make room for other people. They need more diversity so we can get different point of views.

CBS was historically the standard for news.

Very sorry and a little alarmed to see their constant blending
with Fox. Only a matter of time that Rupee gets his mitts on
CBS too, I guess.

and replace him with Norah O'Donnell. The few times that I saw excerpts or listened to the audio rebroadcast on the local radio here overnight when she filled in for him, it was like day and night.
