Trump Showed Docs to People at Mar-a-Lago’s Dining Room Patio Claims Former White House Press Secretary
By Colby HallJul 3rd, 2023, 7:06 am

Stephanie Grisham revealed that she witnessed her former boss, former President Donald Trump, show classified documents to people at his Florida residence Mar-a-Lago.

Grisham served as both Communications Director and Press Secretary under the Trump administration and appeared Saturday on MSNBC’s Alex Witt Reports, and was asked to comment on Trump’s second indictment surrounding his alleged mishandling of classified documents.

Witt: Look, you know, Donald Trump, is it plausible Trump was showing classified documents to people in private meetings?

Grisham: The short answer is yes. I watched him show documents to people at Mar a Lago on the dining room patio. So he has no respect for classified information. Never did. You know, listening to that exchange every time, it just makes me so angry. He he talks specifically that he should have declassified it, but he didn’t. So there, I think, is proof. I believe also there’s a portion of that audio where he says, you know, this is off the record. And I know Donald Trump knows the rules of reporters and he knows if it needs to be off the record that they can’t talk about it. So I think he was covering himself in that regard. And, you know, I was thinking about this earlier. I just want to say to your viewers, I don’t think people understand how hard it is to get your your classified permission. I remember when I was going through it to get get all of mine. I got held up because of a $13 kindercare bill that I did not know about, and so I couldn’t get it. They go through everything about it. It’s very difficult to get a security clearance. And I think people, you know, they miss that in the weeds, obviously. But to be showing it to people who haven’t gone through the extreme vetting that you go through to get a clearance, it’s you know, it’s a disservice to the country, but it also puts people in danger potentially.

Witt: How high was your security clearance? And I’ve got to think, given that you get held up for a $13, whatever it was, I mean, that’s got to be almost offensive. The Donald Trump goes around and shows it very liberally to people.

Russians? Saudis? Chinese? The intelligence services have to assume that he has shared these documents with spies because anyone with the money can become a club member. What an easy way for enemies to gain access to US top secret documents—just buy a club membership. I hope the FBI has obtained a list of any new club members who joined after learning that Trump had classified documents. Or Trump could have even used the documents as incentive to get new members. Buy a membership, get a peek at US secret intelligence. Jeez what an absolute national security nightmare.

Mon Jul 3, 2023, 09:52 AM
Jul 2023

Most of our former Presidents understood the boundaries of what they should and should not do. They all have aides who tell them the proper protocols. With Trump that all went out the window as Trump is his own advisor. Trump destroyed every norm that got in his way. As President he can show the documents to whoever he wanted to. However once he left office those guidelines no longer protect him. This as well as many other issues are why he can never ever be allowed near the Whitehouse ever again because now he knows what he can get away with.

Every operation like that is woefully short of staff. a list of our CIA and other intelligence agents as President and afterwards around the world we started "loosing people."

WASHINGTON — Top American counterintelligence officials warned every C.I.A. station and base around the world last week about troubling numbers of informants recruited from other countries to spy for the United States being captured or killed, people familiar with the matter said.

The message, in an unusual top secret cable, said that the C.I.A.’s counterintelligence mission center had looked at dozens of cases in the last several years involving foreign informants who had been killed, arrested or most likely compromised. Although brief, the cable laid out the specific number of agents executed by rival intelligence agencies — a closely held detail that counterintelligence officials typically do not share in such cables.

The cable highlighted the struggle the spy agency is having as it works to recruit spies around the world in difficult operating environments. In recent years, adversarial intelligence services in countries such as Russia, China, Iran and Pakistan have been hunting down the C.I.A.’s sources and in some cases turning them into double agents.

Acknowledging that recruiting spies is a high-risk business, the cable raised issues that have plagued the agency in recent years, including poor tradecraft; being too trusting of sources; underestimating foreign intelligence agencies, and moving too quickly to recruit informants while not paying enough attention to potential counterintelligence risks — a problem the cable called placing “mission over security.”

The theory of psychological projection was developed by Sigmund Freud, an Austrian psychologist commonly referred to as the “father of psychoanalysis.” For this reason, psychological projection is sometimes called “Freudian projection.” During his sessions with patients, Freud noticed that they would sometimes accuse others of having the same feelings they themselves were demonstrating. By engaging in this behavior, the patient was better able to deal with the emotions he or she was experiencing.

Saw an interview yesterday where GOPer got away with saying " runaway inflation". There was not even a glimmer in the eye of the interviewer to talk about inflation projected to decrease to pre pandemic rates next year.

It's like there should be a corollary to Hanlon's Razor: never attribute to malice what can sufficiently be explained by a pathetic need to brag about how cool you are.

Mr Trump probably had some other ideas in mind for the documents he stole, but I do honestly believe that 90% of the reason he took them was because it made him feel important. The guy is incapable of anything even remotely approaching discretion (to say nothing of good taste), and his whole life has been on big whiny pout of "Look at ME!!!"

I am always arguing with those who say he stole documents to sell them. If he sold them, he'd no longer have control of them to make himself look important. That's more important to him than the monetary reward. He knows how to grift - he can always con people out of their money. But if he sells the classified information, it's in the hands and control of someone else, so he is no longer the important person that says, "Look how important I alone am. Only I have these."
