Arizona election results: 135,410 ballots still need to be counted in Arizona

Source: KNXV-TV ABC15.com

PHOENIX - Secretary of State Ken Bennett said Friday, there are an estimated 135,140 early and provisional ballots that have yet to be counted in Arizona.

That total is down from Thursday’s total of 163,482 ballots that had to be counted.

According to the Secretary of State office, the uncounted early ballot count is 12,140 and 123,000 provisional ballots were remaining as of Friday.

Bennett announced that 13 of the state’s 15 counties have completed their work, leaving only Maricopa and Pima County with votes to be counted.

Carmona needs to make up 78K votes with 125K outstanding - that's got swing REAL hard.

But Barber's has over a 1000 vote lead now and has been picking up votes steadily all week. He's well out of automatic recount range and past the threshold for those contested ballots from earlier this week. A good chunk of the Pima county votes should expand his lead even further.

I assume the work verifying the provisional votes is done, and the number is those to be counted. If less than 125,000, the percent rises.

Pima county is blue, Maricopa is pretty red. There's going to be a lot less outstanding in Pima.

No races will change with the 125k left to count. That is just the math and the political reality.

Flake's margin has not really changed much even from when there was 600k votes uncounted.

It could be misleading to say provisional ballots have been counted. My guess is that many have been reviewed and many of those have been ruled invalid. I would like to see a final count on how many provisional ballots were cast and how many of those were eventually counted. A week ago the provisional ballot tally not counted was 172,000 so only 49,000 of those were processed. Obviously, Maricopa County is the biggest problem and Maricopy County is where Hispanics were culled out of line and sent to the provisional ballot line. Legal challenges are certain.

But, provisional ballots can break heavily blue when discrimination is at the root of it.

The pink underwear is just stupid but the non-climate controlled tents are torture and I do not see how we as a country can stand by and allow this to continue. I am totally disgusted by Arpaio's methods. (I wasn't even aware of the "green baloney" but certainly wouldn't put it past him).

heavily enough FOR Carmona to elect him. It's certainly not unthinkable. After all, he was generally ahead in most pre-election polls that I saw.

If not that, I fervently hope that there are at least enough votes to defeat Sheriff Joe, who, IMO, should be in jail himself.

I am delighted about Barber winning Gabby's seat, although I am SO sorry that she herself couldn't have been there.

Carmona and Arpaio's opponent. Penzone, don't have a chance. They never did. The math was not on their side. Democratic officials in AZ knew those results on election night and no one thought it would change. People were only hoping for the congress seats in AZ-2 and AZ-9 and those worked out.

Regular ballots are filled out and fed into a machine. Provisionals and earlies are kept separate in sealed plastic crates. I think those were what were being counted by hand.
I can't speak for other counties though, and I know when I lived in Flagstaff we used a butterfly ballot, but that was 25 years ago.
