Dick Morris: ‘I Goofed’ With Romney Landslide Prediction, ‘I Was Wrong’ To Question Media Polls

Source: Mediaite

In a new video on his website, Dick Morris explained how he “goofed” when he predicted not only that Mitt Romney would win the presidential election, but that he would win by a big margin, if not a landslide. It came down to the assumptions underlying the polling, he said. Acknowledging he was wrong, Morris said the media’s polls turned out to be accurate.

“I thought Obama would be buried in a landslide, instead I’ve been in a bit of a mudslide on my face,” Morris said. “Sorry about that. I was wrong.”

Morris said all his analysis suggested that the media polls were wrong — and that conclusion was based “on the assumption that they were wrong, the media was wrong, in saying that there would be the same high level of black, Latino and young voter turnout in 2012 that there was in 2008.” Because there wasn’t the same level of turnout in the years prior, he added.

“I was wrong,” he said, “and the media polls were right.”

His apology is meaningless. He helped create "unskewed polls" in order to basically lie to voters into voting for Romney. He knew the polls were incorrect. He knew Nate Silver had and has an excellent track record, and could have done the correct thing, but he chose to be underhanded and deceitful. This election proved something to me, it proved that the american voter is not stupid, and can see things for themselves. He (in my opinion) has ruined his "career" as a pollster/expert by lying.

"on the assumption that they were wrong, the media was wrong, in saying that there would be the same high level of black, Latino and young voter turnout in 2012 that there was in 2008.”

Why?, you are also showing your racist side too, Dick. Why wouldn't the Latino and blacks care about their lives now as much as in 2008.. actually it was your group that didn't show up Dick.....Walk away, give us that big Nixon wave and go sit on the porch with Romney, Newt, Palin, Trump and the other meaningless political scabs....

I think a majorly untold story...of this campaign is the fact that the Republicans kept pushing the idea that minorities wouldn't vote in a gleeful way, in a hopeful way "well, we hope that African Americans and Hispanics won't vote." Not only does this betray their racism but also their absolute hatred of democracy. I heard Obama encouraging people to get out and vote on many occasions and often followed with "whomever you are going to vote for." That is a difference between the candidates that was largely ignored and has major importance. One side want this country to honor its responsibility to vote and take part in the process. The other side is hoping and praying that minority(but now quickly growing)portions of the population will just stay home. Sad.

But his being wrong may have helped us win. Predicting a Romney landslide may have kept people in lines to vote for Obama for hours instead of giving up and leaving. Predicting a Romney landslide may have made complacent Republicans stay home. And predicting a Romney landslide means that he's going to have a few less microphones pushed in his face four years from now.

Doesn't matter much now. He was wrong. He's an ass. We won. American won.

Fox had it wrong and probably (good for us) lead Republicans to believe Mitt was a shoo in. think I've gotten that bit from Dad already who had been scoffing that this was a John Kerry Repeat republican style. which in a way it wasn't Fox is supposed to report the news then whoever decides. alas they didn't report the other side. So Fox's version of balanced isn't and it was to the Rights disadvantage. At some point Republicans have to disconnect themselves from Fox. Or this really will be a single party system like Rove wanted but in reverse

It is sad that we live in a country, where there is NO penalty for being wrong.

This POS will be back in a couple of years, with more Worthless predictions, and somehow he will continue to have a good reputation, and get paid to speak his views.

If there were any rationale to people in this world, he would be ignored for his blatantly wrong predictions, which he always seems to stake his reputation on. Well guess what, your reputation is GARBAGE, and so are you. GO AWAY!

You should hear them on Faux right now, a program called the Five-something or other. Of course the goddamned sky is falling because Obama won, and he didn't get a mandate. Last I saw he did win the popular vote as well as the electoral college. Or am I delusional too? And Dick Morris, what else could he say? I can't believe he once worked for Bill Clinton. He is so incompetent only Fox would ever employ him.

Nov 2012

Obama "squeaked in" yesterday with a popular vote margin that the latest figures show will rival the margin of GWB's second-election margin (2.46 points) and is, well, infinitely greater than GWB's first-election margin. Dick Morris lies (I know -- you're all shocked) by at least a factor of two in his column when he says the Obama margin was 1 point.

In other words, over the past four presidential elections, Obama's 2012 popular vote margin may well end up being worse only than his own performance in 2008, when an incredible wave of fortuitous events (Palin, financial meltdown, Bush fatigue) put him up by 7 points.
