GOP registration dips below 30 percent in Calif.

Source: Yahoo

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California has reached an all-time high of 18.2 million registered voters, while the number of registered Republicans has fallen below 30 percent, signaling a worrisome decline for the state's minority party, officials said Friday.

In its final update before Tuesday's general election, the secretary of state's office said the number of registered voters has increased by 950,000 since the 2008 presidential contest. Officials attribute that surge in part to the state's new online registration system, which helped many young, Democratic-leaning Californians sign up to vote this fall.

That system was seen as a threat to the California Republican Party, which has struggled to retain members, let alone add them. The secretary of state announced that Republicans now make up 29.3 percent of the state's electorate, compared with 31.4 percent in 2008.

This appears to be the lowest ebb for the party since records have been available.

must be to turn the Thuglican Party into a permanent minority party. Our voters have to be made aware that off year elections are just as important as Presidential elections. How do we get Dems to keep enthusiasm high to vote in non-Presidential years?

this isn't even enough to keep them from gumming up the works in State government. We need to stick them in Grover's bathtub to take a turn for the better.

After the check box for "Democrat" the description is "moderate to liberal, intelligent, open-minded people valuing good citizenship and national service."
After the check box for "Unaffiliated" the description says "intelligent people who think for themselves and who value good government and integrity above partisanship."
After the check box for "Republican" the description says "ignorant, hateful, bigoted, and self-centered people who'd cut their own nose off to spite their neighbor's face."

Wish there were chains around it, attached to a tank. And that it had broken off at the knees, just like Saddam's.

Californians aren't stupid, for the most part. Sure, there are those making their fortunes from the religion industry, but even those assholes are getting their comeuppance, and TBN's got more than its share of scandals. And I didn't even mention the $cientology industry, which has aliens and other planets, just like Mittens. But we can't talk about those, because religion is a big industry whos feewings get huwt easiwy.
