(corrected) CIA offers detailed account of attack in Libya

Last edited Thu Nov 1, 2012, 09:01 PM - Edit history (1)

Source: WaPo

The CIA rushed security operatives to an American diplomatic compound in Libya within 25 minutes after it had come under attack and played a more central role in the effort to fend off a night-long siege than has been publicly acknowledged, U.S. intelligence officials said Thursday.

The account, which was provided to news organizations Thursday by senior U.S. intelligence officials, is the most detailed chronology presented so far of an attack that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans, including two CIA security officers.

U.S. offers detailed account of attack in Libya (corrected)

Correction: An earlier alert should have attributed the account of the raid to U.S. intelligence officials.

facing arrest and jail time. Treason is not considered a "legitimate" campaign strategy, which we learned from disgraced Republican President Richard M. Nixon in which he resigned after articles of impeachment were approved by the House and received by the senate.

the what the letters CIA mean. Not where they are stationed, not in what countries they have, are or will be operating in. Even knowing that they rushed more agents to the consulate tells me that they have a tactical response capability in Libya, not the traditional "spook" role.

State secrets.

The CIA is a private army for the most vicious elements in this country, involved in the murders of god knows how many innocent people. They are also narco traffickers. Fuck them, and fuck the attitude that we little people just aren't smart enough to get a full accounting of all the crazy bullshit they have been up to for 60 years.

It's about the assets that these CIA operatives have been cultivating - they don't want anyone associated with them put in harm's way. Do you honestly think CIA agents provide the actual intelligence? Where and how do you think they get them? From informants, assets! Didn't you learn anything from the Valerie Plame incident?

It's about the thousands of people the CIA has murdered over the years, the drug traffickers they have "cultivated" as "assets," such as Manuel Noriega and Ahmed Wali Karzai.

Should Ellsberg have gone to jail for the release of the Pentagon Papers?

We're always the last to learn what US foreign policy really is because the American people are actually the target of most of the deception.

No, that is NOT the way it should be.

Treason is a very specific crime defined in the Constitution. It was not alleged in the Nixon matter.

... via his chairmanship of a House committee. He dumped the names into the Friday night news dump, of those in Libya who are on the US/CIA payroll for security and other operations we really do not need to know about, as implied a ways up in this thread.

While attempting to use the death of American government officials in Libya to help Mitt Romney’s election bid, fellow Utah Republican Jason Chaffetz, and his House Republican colleagues on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, outed a classified CIA operation, on C-SPAN no less, endangering American national security.

< snip >

Chaffetz and company were using the death of the US ambassador to Libya, and others, to try to smear the President for “security lapses,” and as the Washington Post's Dana Milbank points out in a great scoop, Chaffetz and company managed to create their own massive security lapse.

Apparently, Fox News has discovered that the fake Labor Department statistics combined with Obama's newly revealed college transcripts from Kenya--has created a powerful fusion that has confused the CIA and caused them to hallucinate this Benghazi stiory.

Therefore, Republicans will launch a new investigation which will dig into Obama's preschool report cards, his first driver's license test and a Myers Briggs personality assessment that reveals Obama to be an ENFJ. Harvard dorm records also demonstrates that Obama rarely purchased vegetables as part of his college meal plan.

Obviously, Republicans will attempt to connect the dots between Obama's grades, meal plan choices, driving habits and a plot to use the CIA as cover, that dates back to when Obama was in utero. A sonogram will illustrate Obama's penchant for hiding the truth, as he can be seen attempting to cower behind an umbilical cord.

More Fox updates to come...

all the rest is noise to them. They've got some serious blinders on. One republican friend of mine has already shifted to, "well, Obama will probably win, but he's going to be impeached over Benghazi" He's so certain this is going to be huge. Sigh.

that unless Fox itself says the report is truth, their viewers will never believe anything else. It will be a conspiracy, a cover-up, yada, yada, yada. I've been saying since all this Benghazi-gate shit started that we are going to have people who believe a version of "history" surrounding this horrible incident that isn't true but believes with every fiber of their being that it is.

Then, when John McCain got involved in it, giving it a modicum of respectability, it was game over. He should be ashamed of himself and really, he should lose his job over entertaining these whacked out conspiracy theories.
