Errant Email to Newt Gingrich Supporters Says 'Obama Is Going to Win'
Source: ABC News
The email, titled "What's really at stake this Tuesday ..." came from Gingrich Marketplace and went out to people who'd given their contact information to the Gingrich campaign when the former speaker of the House was still in the presidential race. Bygone candidates, such as Gingrich and Herman Cain, regularly rent out their email address lists to advertisers.
"The truth is, the next election has already been decided. Obama is going to win. It's nearly impossible to beat an incumbent president," advertiser Porter Stansberry wrote in the email to Gingrich supporters.

(11,119 posts)hand over fist selling ad time for Rmoney's hopeless campaign.....it's s neat trick. Money goes into both Obama and Rmoney campaigns, then money goes out to buy ad time at Clear Channel.
$ into Obama and Rmoney campaigns, then into Rmoney's pocket.

So Obama is going to just go ahead and take 2 more terms, is he? Yeah, maybe he'll declare a new Prime Minister position and name himself to that, like Putin did. Yeah, that's the ticket.
Or maybe he will use his magical Muslim Kenyan powers to stop the calendar altogether in 2015, making it perpetually 2015 so that he can stay in office forever.

(56,828 posts)He was the incumbent vice president when he ran in 1988.
The only recent incumbent to lose has been Ford, and that was an unusual circumstance.

(21,848 posts)George HW Bush served two terms as VP under Reagan (1980-88). He was elected as President in 1988 and lost to Clinton in 1992.
Yes, he was an incumbent who lost.
Carter was another incumbent who lost.

(56,828 posts)I had just read an article on how incumbents don't lose re-election if it's a close election, with Ford being the exception. I'll attribute the confusion to my lack of sleep due to the power outage.
