GOVERNOR PATRICK AUTHORIZES MEMA TO SEND EMERGENCY WORKERS TO NEW YORK TO ASSIST WITH HURRICANE RESP

Source: Mass.gov

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Governor Deval Patrick has authorized the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) to dispatch seven staff members to the New York State Emergency Operations Center in Albany to help coordinate New York's response and recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The request for assistance came through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), which facilitates member states sending personnel and equipment to help disaster relief efforts in other states.

"Compared to other states like New York, Massachusetts was spared from the harshest impacts and devastation of Hurricane Sandy," said Governor Patrick. "We have been fortunate and we want to assist other states in any way we can. These committed MEMA officials will strengthen New York's recovery efforts."

Instead of a governor who refuses funds, citing big government, and lets people suffer. I'm glad we got rid of Mitt Romney. And I can't wait to do so again Tuesday.

It also makes sense. Winter storms and hurricanes often hit several of the Northeast states. Whatever state is in need should get help, regardless of the party in the governor's offices of each state.

(Actually, in New England, only Maine has a dumb-ass Tea Party type Republican right now.)

PA sent troops to MS and LA after Katrina. I would imagine several states might send troops to NY and NJ and CT after this one.

His gubernatorial campaign was the model for the 08 Obama campaign.

I wonder if he'll go to DC in the next four years...?
