National poll shows Fischer-Kerrey race tighter (US Senate NE)

A national poll shows the race between Republican Deb Fischer and Democrat Bob Kerrey has tightened, but it is a poll that undersampled Republicans and oversampled independents.
Pharos Research Group, a little-known polling company that has released few public surveys, released a poll this week that showed Fischer ahead by about 2.5 percentage points.
The live telephone poll surveyed 783 likely voters and had a margin of error of about 3.5 percentage points. It was conducted between Oct. 19-21, according to the Pharos Research Group.
The pollsters interviewed fewer Republicans than the percentage of registered GOP voters in Nebraska. They also talked to a lot more independent voters.

National Dem groups aren't helping fund Kerrey.

(7,403 posts)Has problems with dirt cheap grazing on public lands and an ugly lawsuit the screwed some people. The cheap grazing is on public record but I don't have details on the lawsuit but Kerrey is running with the ball on this issue. She is another wealthy Tea Bagger that walked over people to get her fortune. Her campaign is being financed by Joe Ricketts. 6 years ago Ricketts tried to buy the seat for his son but he was so awful that Ben Nelson beat him easily.

(538 posts)and if Fischer is stupid enough, which wouldn't surprise me, she'll spew some stupid comments and give Kerry the opportunity to retain that senate seat.
Fingers crossed.

(8,053 posts)Deb Fischer is a part of the "rape ain't that serious and you dont' get an abortion if you let yourself get pregnant" frat party:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/25/richard-mourdock-abortion_n_2018934.html
The political action committee Republican National Coalition for Life submits questionnaires to GOP candidates about their positions on choice issues and then endorses candidates who advocate a strict anti-abortion platform. Selected candidates must be "unconditionally pro-life" and "recognize the inherent right to life of every innocent human being, from conception until natural death, without discrimination."
So far, the group has endorsed 10 such Republican Senate candidates: Akin and Mourdock, as well as George Allen (Va.), Rep. Rick Berg (N.D.), Ted Cruz (Texas), Deb Fischer (Neb.), Sen. Dean Heller (Nev.), Rep. Pete Hoekstra (Mich.), Josh Mandel (R-Ohio) and Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.).

(7,403 posts)Actually, I'm not sure of Heller in NV as it may have been a Dem poll showing Heller behind. In both Montana and North Dakota the Dem has about 2 point leads in independent polls. Obviously, too close to call but encouraging.
