Richard Mourdock says he gained voters after controversial rape comment

Source: Indianapolis Star

Richard Mourdock acknowledged Thursday that he thinks he gained -- not lost -- voters for saying pregnancies from rape are "something God intended to happen."

"It's an interesting thing that, up until the other night, this issue has not been discussed at all in the campaign trail," Mourdock said before speaking at an event Thursday afternoon in Crawfordsville. "That's why I'm absolutely confident that it's going to pass very, very quickly. We're going to win this race." . . .

. . . Asked about voters who decided not to vote for him after his debate comment, Mourdock said "I haven't heard of those voters." He was then told of a voter who did just that and replied, "I assured all women that the issue of rape is a serious issue. It is not one that my God condones. If anyone thinks that I would condone that, that's a ludicrous point of view."

Also asked if campaign gained votes after the abortion comment, Mourdock replied: "I know we did."

Roe v. Wade is gone if Romney gets in, but if he pulls these knuckle draggers in with him, we may even see a loosening of rape laws.

I can't even imagine what's coming, besides a sure bet of war, of course.

Grew up in South Bend and I believe despite the presence of Notre Dame (catholic university), it's a very liberal town. I worked at ND too so know how it goes there.

there are many fundamentalist Christians but in the cities, Indy, South Bend, Bloomington, Gary, Michigan City, etc. there are many strong liberal and we turned Indiana Blue in 08. The polls lately show a Romney victory here but after Mourdock's stupid comment about rape this week, I am hoping for another blue result on Nov 6th.

and his troops did a number on the women and children of Jericho (rape was probably the least of it), supposedly at God's behest. So there's at least Old Testament precedent for the whackos' views.

This is the problem we face....these clowns actually are in la-la land someplace. This turd thinks what he did is commendable. He actually thinks he GAINED support by being an ignorant, head-up-his-ass insult to humanity. How sad...how really sad it is. But it is also a good example of just how imperative it is to throw out any teabagger types, and prevent such complete fools from ever getting into Congress in the first place.

God help us all!!
