McCain Calls On Mourdock To Apologize For Rape Comments

Source: Think Progress

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) became the most prominent Republican to call on Indiana senate candidate Richard Mourdock to apologize for claiming, during a debate on Tuesday night, that pregnancies resulting from rape are a “gift from God.” The Arizona senator told CNN’s Anderson Cooper Wednesday night that he would withhold his support until Mourdock “apologizes and says he misspoke, and he was wrong and he asks the people to forgive him”:

the high profile repugs who have repudiated Mourdoch. Maybe the mittwits are concerned about Indiana getting a Dem Senator?!

Oh well John McCain is withdrawing his support if he doesn't apologize..or so he said.

What people don't realize is a rapist if convicted will serve about 5 years in jail.

If the victim is forced by the government to bear the child, the rapist can apply for visitation after he gets out of prison.

If the rapist is convicted of a lesser crime, sexual battery for example, he'll serve about two years in prison.

Then he can apply for visitation.

If the rapist isn't prosecuted... there's nothing but bad news for the victim and the child.

The perpetrator or convicted felon can apply for visitation at their local Family Court AND the court will side with the perpetrator AGAINST the mother.

At the expense of the taxpayer the judge may appoint an advocate or even an attorney to aid the perpetrator or felon in securing visitation through the court.

Imagine the victim being FORCED by the Court to turn the child over to their rapist every other weekend, half the summer and every other Christmas.

What do the republicans have to say about this?

Just by saying it out loud, in front of cameras and microphones, Mourdock's made his TRUE opinion known.

Women, and men who love women, you know what to do.

IF he apologizes now all it will mean is that he is afraid of losing votes.

The Republican Party will still continue its War on Women and will still be trying to overturn Roe v Wade, passing laws regarding trans-vaginal ultrasounds, reducing access to birth control, etc.

because Mourdock's opponent holds the same exact view. He voted for Paul Ryan's dopey "forcible rape" bill. Indiana loses either way.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Donnelly

Donnelly is morally opposed to abortion, and is trying to make adoption more accessible to families.[87] On the issue of abortion Donnely said “As a pro-life congressman, I am committed to protecting life at all stages.” [88] In 2011, he co-sponsored HR 3, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.[89] The bill contained an exception for "forcible rape," which opponents criticized as potentially excluding drug-facilitated rape, date rape, and other forms of rape.[90] The bill also allowed an exception for minors who are victims of incest.[89]
In 2011 Donnelly received a 20% rating from pro-choice political action group NARAL.[91] Before 2011, Donnelly had consistently received a 0% rating every year from NARAL during his time in the House.[92][93][94] Donnelly has received high scores with the pro-life group National Right to Life Committee, never receiving a lower than under 70% rating.

for Sarah Palin? This guy is a single candidate running for a senate seat as a republican, there is a good chance, therefore, that he is a bat-shit crazy bible thumper, just like Sarah Palin. John McCain is asking someone to apologize for something he truly believes in and , if pressed, I'm sure Sarah Palin would agree with this nut. John McCain put this lunatic a 72 year old heartbeat away from becoming POTUS if he wins in 2008. John, lead by example and you apologize for that. This guy is going to lose this elections just as you did 4 years ago for having someone just as bad or worse on your ticket.

I'm sick of these insincere "apologies" that are nothing more than PR pleas and honestly, who the hell "mis-speaks"? No, people pretty much ALWAYS say what they mean, especially politicians.

You know, I've been waiting for years for some dumb journalist to ask these Thugs the BIG QUESTION: "If you believe in small government, why do you believe government should be interfering in people's personal lives?" I have NEVER heard this question asked of them, and I have never heard them offer an explanation of their concept of "small government". Nothing but a bunch of hypocrites.
