Bogus Voter Purge Letters Showing Up In Florida

Source: huffingtonpost

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Official-looking but bogus letters telling mostly Republican voters that their citizenship is in question are turning up in Florida, where GOP officials have led efforts to purge noncitizens from registration rolls.

The phony letters have been reported in 23 counties so far in an apparent attempt to intimidate voters, Department of State spokesman Chris Cate said Tuesday.

Our charter fight has taken me into meetings on how to best fight a power grab. It's really interesting to see how the average Republican is outraged by their own party officials. They're on the receiving end of what is normally directed at Democrats and they don't like it.

"Anytime anybody's trying to prevent somebody from voting that's a serious issue," Scott said. "We'll get to the bottom of it. We'll turn over any violations of law to law enforcement. I expect law enforcement to prosecute those individuals."

So, does this mean that we can expect Scott to surrender himself to local authorities?

I certainly hope he is prosecuted for each and every instance where he intimidated voters, after all "voter intimidation is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine."

The governor has zero tolerance for voter intimidation, unless it comes from his office, then it's legal.

It had to come to this. There was no way the democrats would not take up republican tactics to fight back.

Our election is now an official farce.

Rick Scott is probably the one sending the bogus letters so he can claim voter intimidation and Dems did it. FRAMED All along they have been playing this game. they do something outlandish and or wrong and then point the finger at the Dems.
Wow they sure wine when the table turns on them. Mom he's not playing fair.

"Florida Department of Law Enforcement spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger said the agency was monitoring the situation but hadn't gathered enough evidence to launch a criminal investigation. The letters purport to come from various Florida county supervisors of elections but all were postmarked from Seattle." - Gretl, you might want to start in Seattle.

I too think the republicans are doing this, because even republicans know how terrible Romney will be for this country, that or Jeb Bush and Chris Christie are making sure they get a shot at the WH in 2016!

Republicans are receiving these? Hold on while I stifle my laughter before I continue. This is pure BS and if they are receiving them they are being sent by people working for the Republican party. I am amazed at the shenanigans the right is doing during this election to suppress the vote and intimidate voters in certain places. How is all of this stuff happening in the swing states like Ohio, Virginia, Florida, etc. You don't hear a peep about this in places like Rhode Island, California or Vermont. It's all being done to limit minorities and older voters by creating confusion and either not allowing them to vote or having their applications tossed in the trash. It is too late to do something about this, but how we let this go on is a slap in the face to a democracy. You just wish the justice department could step in which they have in some cases but the Rethuglicans will fight it every step of the way. Their efforts to cheat no no bounds!
