Scott Brown Supporter From Ad Calls Elizabeth Warren 'D*****bag,' Obama A 'Muslim' On Facebook
Source: Huffingtonpost.com
Scott Brown recently got in hot water for falsely claiming that his Senate race opponent, Elizabeth Warren, was using paid actors in her commercials. But it turns out that Brown is perhaps the one who should have known more about the people appearing in his ads.
In a television advertisement running as recently this week, Sen. Scott Brown's (R-Mass.) reelection campaign featured a union construction worker whose publicly accessible Facebook page is riddled with insults against Brown's Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren and President Barack Obama.
Patriarca appears in a Brown ad about Warren's role in a lawsuit over health payments to asbestos workers who had fallen sick. The ad accuses Warren of fighting against those workers in court -- a charge that her campaign has stridently rejected, and that the Boston Globe has said is "misleading."
"I'm a union construction worker, and I find it incredibly offensive," Patriarca says in the Brown ad of Warren's alleged role in the lawsuit. "The average working man lost again."

Discussing his star turn on his Facebook page, Patriarca says that he "opened up a can of worms" with his union, the Sprinkler Fitters and Apprentices Local Union 550, which supports Warren.
"My intent was not to piss anyone off, but to do my due diligence ... and some people got offended," he writes.
Attempts to reach Patriarca for comment via his Facebook page and through his union got no response. The Brown campaign did not return a request for comment.

Patriarca's views are available for perusal for anyone with a Facebook account, and from some of his posts, it is clear that he relishes his provocative online persona.
"I attended Brandeis," he says underneath one photo. "Jew U. Great school. the people, not so much. One thing I learned is that Jews have a persecution complex and they hate themselves. That is why I believe they vote for liberals."

(1,008 posts)Lots of union members are conservative, both economically and socially. Some are actively against worker's rights and policies - standing up for the 1%.
In the heyday of unions, woe betide the member who was publicly pushing against liberal, pro-labor candidates. Good, hope the peer pressure continues.

(1,245 posts)noticing some of my Union brothers advocating right wing policies during Reagan's reign of terror. They are always the "shoppies" who never have to worry about a lay off (or so they think). It makes me sick when these shitheads, who owe everything they've accomplished and earned to pro-labor candidates, spout nonsense as militant as any freeper does. I know for a fact much of their hatred of liberalism in general and Obama in particular is rooted in racism. I've worked heavy, industrial construction all my adult life and have heard every type of insult directed against minorities you can think of, but some of the worst are from my supposed brothers.

I doubt they offered much in the way of counseling though. Probably more like advice.

(507 posts)NOT that the Boston media will give up their crush on him, it has been embarrassing how gone everyone from the sleaziest writers for "the little picture paper (Herald) to the august WGBH was for the underwear model. And this is The Hub city.
I hope Warren cleans his clock.

I'm a lifelong union member, but I'll be the first to admit some people don't deserve a collectively negotiated wage. A few subpar cases will get caught up in the net that feeds the cause of the many.
Fortunately, Darwin has a way of working this out in the long run.
