(Jesse) Jackson (Jr.) Is Investigated Over Money in Campaign

Source: NYT

Representative Jesse L. Jackson Jr., who has stayed out of public view for much of the past four months while undergoing treatment for bipolar disorder, is being investigated by federal authorities for the possible misuse of campaign money, a federal official confirmed on Monday.

The inquiry by the Washington field office of the F.B.I. began before Mr. Jackson, Democrat of Illinois, went on medical leave in June, said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the case is continuing.

Frank Watkins, a spokesman in Mr. Jackson’s Congressional office, declined to comment on the investigation. A representative for Mr. Jackson’s Chicago campaign — he is seeking re-election to Congress — was not available for comment.

The revelation of a federal investigation, which was first reported by The Chicago Sun-Times, was the latest in a series of troubling developments in recent years for Mr. Jackson, 47, the son of the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

JJJ was buying the senate seat and was using this businessman (whose name I forgot) as the go-between. Now this businessman is under indictment for unrelated corruption with his surgical centers. The gov't expects him to flip on JJJ and then JJJ is toast.

How long will it be before Issa heads up a racist witch hunt looking to smear Congressman Jackson with trumped up charges?

But I'm sure the vultures are waiting to pile on, after the government does its work.

Why would JJJ do something so stupid? I just find it hard to believe. I mean his father is Jesse Jackson, civil rights icon. Did he not anticipate doing such a thing would come out? I just don't get it.

i think pops is pretty in need of mental health services as well. accounts of his behavior are just head shaking stuff.
but i think jjj is hiding out. nobody, but nobody gets 4 months of inpatient treatment for bipolar.
