Clinton: I'm responsible for diplomats' security
From Elise Labott, CNN
updated 9:14 PM EDT, Mon October 15, 2012
"I take responsibility" for the protection of U.S. diplomats, Clinton said during a visit to Peru. But she said an investigation now under way will ultimately determine what happened in the attack that left four Americans dead.
.....................
The Obama administration has been heavily criticized after Vice President Joe Biden said during last week's vice presidential debate that the White House did not know of requests to enhance security at Benghazi, contradicting testimony by State Department employees that requests had been made and rejected. After the debate, the White House said the vice president did not know of the requests because they were handled, as is the practice, by the State Department.
Clinton said President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are not involved in security decisions.
"I want to avoid some kind of political gotcha," she added, noting that it is close to the election.

(9,289 posts)". . . Biden said during last week's vice presidential debate that the White House did not know of requests to enhance security at Benghazi, contradicting testimony by State Department employees that requests had been made and rejected." BULLSHIT! The State Department employees didn't say they requested anything from the White House. Their requests were directed to the State Department.
Not to be outdone, MSNBC reported today that a human being traveled faster than the speed of light. Ugh, I hate the MSM.

(2,730 posts)This is the problem I have with CNN and especially Candy Crowley as the moderator tonight. I would see if she throw loaded questions at the the president, to push the Republican attacks.
You got Republicans such as John McCain and Rudy Giuliano pushing pushing pointed attacks at the Obama Administration for Political purposes and nothing more. People tried to paint McCain as this honest and straight shooter but he is a loyal soldier of the Republican Party. This guy doesn't fool me one bit. I hope the President does answer that question this way if Crowley brings it up or badger him on it. I think it is CNN's responsibility not to get caught up as a news organization becoming a propaganda venue like some other news organization we know. When was the last time in a decade, FOX NEWS gave a positive report on their station regarding the Democratic Party and when have they ever criticized the Republican agenda? So we don't want CNN to become like FOX.

(3,825 posts)I remember another administration that took no responsibility for the loss of 3,000 American lives, but that is what republicans do, they fail the test of leadership every time.

(5,811 posts)is so bizarre "State Department employees that requests had been made and rejected." Ambassador Stevens was on the Rachel Maddow show twice. I'm thinking it was either 2010 or 2011. In one of the interviews, Ambassador Stevens was CALLED BACK BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT because they determined the security risks were too high and presented grave danger to his safety. Yes, Hillary Clinton was the SoS at the time. He was popular among US diplomatic core and in the ME. It appears to me the Secretary was doing everything she could to protect him.

(17,390 posts)...because embassy security is funded out of the State Department's budget...which Republicans are trying to cut to the tune of $300 million in denied funding for embassy security.
