Huge eyeball from unknown creature washes ashore on Florida beach

Source: Sun Sentinel

A giant eyeball from a mysterious sea creature washed ashore Wednesday in Pompano Beach.

No one knows what species the huge eyeball came from, but whatever it is, it has blue eyes and has to be big enough to have eyeballs bigger than softballs. Among the possibilities being discussed are a giant squid, some other large fish or a whale or other large marine mammal.

~snip~

Wildlife officers placed the eyeball on ice. It will be preserved in formalin and sent for analysis to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute in St. Petersburg.

He tried to hide it, but he can't!

"YOU can't hide your lyin' eyes,
And your smile is a thin disguise;
I thought by now you'd reali-i-ize
There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes.

My, oh, my, you sure know how to arrange things,
You set it up so well, so carefully,
Ain't it funny how your new lie didn't change things...
You're still the same old (filthy lying sack of whaleshit) you used to be."

Have you ever removed one, like in a class dissection? I was shocked the first time I removed a squid eye. It was like a little marble.

...you're going to see eyes, anus, every single orifice used as feeding ground/entrance first. I agree that an eyeball is tough but in a decay situation I guess what I'm saying is it's puzzling that the eyeball would be completely detached like that before the cornea's punctured.

I am not an expert by any means though.

humans are the only creatures who have 4 other senses besides sight?

smell--scent in the water of a warm blooded human mammal... ability to feel vibrations (as opposed to being able to hear)... ability to locate by electrical impulse... blah blah blah

you don't know what that creature can or can't see.
