NBC/Marist/WSJ Poll: Even After Listless Debate, Obama Leads By 6 In Ohio
Source: TPM
Its still unclear what the long-term fallout from President Barack Obamas lackluster debate performance will be, but a poll released Thursday shows he continues to hold the upper-hand in the coveted bellwether of Ohio.
Thats the upshot of the latest survey from NBC News, Marist College and the Wall Street Journal, which shows Obama leading Romney among likely Buckeye State voters, 51 percent to 45 percent. While thats a 2-point uptick for Romney since the previous NBC/Marist/WSJ poll Ohio released a week ago, which showed Obama up 51 percent to 43 percent, voters impressions of the two candidates have remained largely the same.
Fifty-one percent of Ohio voters view Obama favorably, down only 1-point from the previous poll, which was conducted in late-September and early-October. The 44 percent of Ohio voters who view the president unfavorably is unchanged. Obamas job approval rating has inched up a point to 49 percent. Meanwhile, Romneys own favorability rating is up 2 points to 44 percent, although half of Ohio voters still have an unfavorable view of the Republican nominee virtually the same as the last NBC/Marist/WSJ poll.
Ohio voters still prefer Obama over Romney when it comes to the economy and foreign policy; in fact, the president has slightly widened his lead in those areas over the last week. Obama tops Romney on the question of which candidate would do a better job on the economy, 49 percent to 45 percent, a 1-point improvement for the president since the previous NBC/Marist/WSJ poll. Additionally, Obamas 12-point edge over Romney on foreign policy amounts to a 1-point improvement since last week.

(2,795 posts)I hope the good numbers continue. Keep Ohio away from Romney and then his chances of winning are over

(320 posts)Rasmussen polls are still tight, just like pre-debate. Obama still leads beyond the MOE in states like OH and PA and MI and WI, while the race remains a toss-up in FL and VA and CO. Obama's favorability and approval ratings are above 50%.
It's gotta be disheartening for Romney, hehe.

(47 posts)the buckeye state is all about Obama! Mitt and Ryan have been having trouble even gathering a crowd on theyre stops in Ohio. Any talk to the contrary has been the media trying to keep viewers on edge so they will watch everything they can. I am really pretty disgusted with most news programs this election. Way to much hype over every little thing.

(737 posts)I heard that Mitt had to "bus" in a lot of people to make it a crowd. It's the same here in Michigan.

(1,351 posts)It's amazing that -- even if you just go along with the narrative that Obama lost the debate...that style is all that matter...lying is no biggie -- we're still talking about the debate as if that's all there is. There's a mountain of shit that Robme has done/said/lied about, but all that matters is one debate? All the rest of that stuff doesn't exist anymore?
Ugh.
Good news re: Ohio though.
