Jones protest at Dearborn school ends quietly

The Detroit News
Dearborn Florida pastor Terry Jones and about a dozen supporters left Edsel Ford High School Wednesday afternoon after a protest against "Muslim gangs" that lasted about an hour.
No arrests had been made as of 2:30 p.m., minutes after Jones and his backers ended their demonstration. The pastor had planned to protest until 4 p.m.
Jones, 60, a Florida pastor, said he came to Dearborn to meet with school officials about Muslim students bullying other kids as well as to defend the First Amendment by speaking out against what he sees as a threat from "radical Islam."

By 2 p.m., the pastor and 12 supporters were outside the school. About 20 counter-protesters showed up and were separated from Jones and his supporters by police. A few passing motorists yelled profanities at Jones from their cars.

Local TV trucks were at EFHS this afternoon and WDIV just ran their 4pm newscast. This "event" didn't rate even a mention.
Kudos to the students of Edsel Ford High School and the Dearborn community as a whole.

(95,337 posts)Trust me Christians bully too. I was named called because I liked rock music and wasn't interested in joining their christian clubs. I kid you not. And then when a boy who one of the leaders of this group had a crush on one of my best friends - well that so-called 'Christian' girl got pretty darn vicious in the rumors she started and the stunts she pulled.
I have always maintained my Christian faith but I like to stick to what Jesus had done who was much more progressive in thoughts & actions than what these kids did.

(163 posts)Why did Jones choose this School? This so called Christian ,if he were to walk in the footsteps of Jesus, would find common ground instead of focus on differences. He got the media to notice his stunt and most likely feels justified in his decision. It's Church Night on Mike Malloy. Perhaps he will give this a mention.
