Ohio judge derides restriction of 1 ballot box per county

Source: AP

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A directive that restricted Ohio counties to one ballot drop box in November was arbitrary and unreasonable, a county judge ruled Tuesday, delivering the Republican secretary of state in the presidential battleground another in a series of blows to his policies.

The office of Secretary of State Frank LaRose said he would soon appeal the decision by Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Richard Frye, assuming the judge follows through and invalidates the secretary's drop-box order.

For now, Frye's ruling doesn't change anything, LaRose spokesperson Maggie Sheehan said in a written statement, "and the Secretary’s directive remains in place.”

Access to ballot drop boxes has become an urgent matter nationally, with in-person voting options restricted by the coronavirus pandemic and the efficiency and security of mail-in voting questioned amid cutbacks at the U.S. Postal Service.

1. "arbitrary and unreasonable"

That says it all. There's no advantage to doing it, and it's a number they picked out of thin air.

Everyone else knows why the GOP wants to restrict ballot boxes.

3. Oh yes there IS an advantage ...... to GOPers who want to suppress voters.

That order is total bullshit, and without a doubt they'd put drop boxes where they're more accessible to right wing voters.

It's just so damned pathetic that GOPers are resorting to such blatant voter suppression to hold power. Once again they're showing that the only way they can win is to cheat.

2. Oh look, the republican SOS of Ohio is another arrogant dumbass

Why do all these shitheads insist on trying to keep legal citizens from voting? (rhetorical question - I know the answer. He's a republican shithead. And has no earthly reason to hold his office other than the fact that he's a shithead.)

4. If they thought it was advantageous to repubs, they would be in every 7-11.
