(3,922 posts)In anticipation of the possible hurricane, the state closed all the testing sites for the weekend.
That is the reason why the counts were down coming out of the weekend.

(17,387 posts)This is one of the rare areas of disagreement between DeSantis and Scott. Recently, it seems like Scott had been distancing himself from DeSantis with respect to how to respond to COVID-19 even though DeSantis has been hewing pretty close to Trump's talking points on the virus such as blaming the high numbers on better testing.

The first-term Republican was on Fox Business Friday morning with host Stuart Varney when he took issue with the states decision to close down testing sites ahead of Hurricane Isaias.
Testing is really important, Scott said. We do need to get the testing done. We need to get the tests and results back quickly so people can quarantine themselves and tell everybody else they may be positive.
You shut down a testing center, you just slow down information, Scott added.
Gov. Ron DeSantis, addressing media in Tallahassee at the Emergency Operations Center, noted that shutting down state testing sites along the east coast would not bring the effort grinding to a halt.
