Trump on coronavirus death toll: 'It is what it is'

Source: The Hill

President Trump said the coronavirus death toll “is what it is” during an interview with “Axios on HBO” broadcast late Monday. The president told Axios’s Jonathan Swan that the COVID-19 pandemic is “under control as much as you can control it” in the U.S.

“They are dying, that's true. And you have — it is what it is,” Trump said. “But that doesn't mean we aren't doing everything we can. It's under control as much as you can control it. This is a horrible plague.”

At times, the interview turned combative as Swan pointed out the data Trump was referencing measured death as a proportion of cases instead of as a proportion of the population. “I’m talking about death as a proportion of population,” Swan said. “That’s where the U.S. is really bad. Much worse than South Korea, Germany, etc.”

“You can’t do that,” Trump responded, prompting Swan to ask, “Why can’t I do that?”

Trump also repeated the claim that the U.S. has counted more cases because it has conducted more testing.

that they decided long ago not to really try too hard (and all the extra expense that would entail by "shutting down the economy unnecessarily) to combat the virus, and just wanted it to "wash over the masses" (as Boris in the UK initially proposed) to be able to "preserve" their economy (see Greg Abbot in Texas). I think they are only paying lip service to trying to fight this thing (because NOT paying at least minimal lip service - i.e. spin would be such bad optics for IQ45 and it is REALY so obvious that they are not trying to fight it). They don't really care how many have to DIE (after all it will only be a small percentage of the worker bees and once you have it and recover you can get back to the grindstone) as long as the vast majority are able to get back to work and keep earning the billionaire all there vast wealth AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Where there are people who will not social distance, wear a mask, follow protocols, they spread this virus onto others. Louie Gohmert, that means you!
