Covid-19 vaccine may not be available until mid-2021, German minister says

Source: CNN

A coronavirus vaccine may not be available until the middle of next year, Germany’s minister for research Anja Karliczek warned Wednesday, as she announced further government funding to help accelerate the research and development process.

“Researchers are working at an unbelievable speed, but of course setbacks are always possible,” Karliczek said.

“We can’t expect miracles and most expect that vaccines for the vast majority of the population will only be available in the middle of next year, at the earliest,” she added.

Karliczek, speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, said the German government would offer financial support to three labs currently developing coronavirus vaccines.

It must be so very reassuring to receive accurate scientific information and vaccine updates from one’s government scientists.

*sigh*

Not just sewing nonsense to get re-elected in November.

Way too much empahsis going on here in the U.S. that a vaccine is the only answer. Fits Trump's narrative and set-ups October suprise that will be announcement only.

Was that Russia nothingburger about a vaccine being imminent legit yesterday? That got no traction in my mind. My Lord. Not trusting anything orginating from there.

I'm surprised so many people and the news media has fallen for that bogus meme.

I think the fastest we have ever produced a vaccine is 2 years. Positive results in
early experiments on a POSSIBLE vaccine does not mean that a vaccine will be ready
ASAP.

Covid-19 vaccine, that wasn't rushed to market to make money off the hapless souls who still believe that the orange asshole is a genius, may not be available until mid-2021, German minister says

Anyone who honestly thinks otherwise is mistaken.

In an exchange about vaccines here yesterday, someone said that vaccines are already being manufactured, because so many millions of doses will be needed. If that person is correct, I will absolutely not be willing to take a vaccine that was made before it was known to be safe and effective.

So beware. Especially of a vaccine developed in this country. If in less than three months testing it's said to be a go, and oh, by the way, we already have 300 million doses ready, don't take it. Wait for something you can trust.
