HONOLULU (AP) Hawaii prepared for the onslaught of Hurricane Douglas on Sunday, with predictions of high winds, rain and storm surge.
Its definitely going to be a triple threat, said National Weather Service meteorologist Vanessa Almanza said.
Rainfall from the storm can be anywhere from 5-15 inches (13-38 centimeters). Its probably not a good day to go to the beach, Almanza said.
Douglas weakened Saturday to a Category 1 hurricane as it approached Hawaii, but officials warned people should not be lulled into complacency. The National Weather Service said Douglas should remain a hurricane as it moves through the islands Sunday.

(279 posts)Windy for about 1 hour this afternoon. Sunny and pleasant now, about 3:30pm as I write. Talking with a friend in Kahului, nothing happening there. I guess we will see what happens on Oahu. Aloha!

(41,861 posts)I am in San Francisco so its not as bad here however... There is no way I will be seeing any beaches soon, (except on www.imvu.com)
unless they are virtual beaches. I am not sure how badly Hawaii is doing but California needs to just shut down and wait on any reopening for few weeks.. or until the curve falls down very far.
