Americans trust governors more than Trump on coronavirus, new poll finds

Source: NBC News

WASHINGTON — Americans have significantly more confidence in their governors than in President Donald Trump when it comes to handling the coronavirus, according to new data from an NBC News/SurveyMonkey Weekly Tracking Poll.

Forty-three percent of respondents approve of Trump's handling of the pandemic, while 55 percent disapprove.

That's compared to 60 percent of Americans who say they approve of how their governors are handling the response and just 37 percent who said they disapprove.

And 7 out of 10 Americans say they trust their governors over the president to decide when to reopen businesses in their area. Just 25 percent say they trust Trump over their governors. Even among Republicans, just over half — 53 percent — say they trust the president's judgment on reopening over that of their governors.

Gotta admire the tenacity of pollsters; designing questions to deliberately obscure the truth. lagomorph777 Jul 2020 #1

C'mon, would it have killed them to distinguish between Democratic governors and Russiapublican governors?

Gov. Abbott prevented local leaders from enacting any virus preventative policies during his grand reopening. As things went predictably South the local leaders were literally begging him to allow them to impose restrictions, which he ignored for as long as he could. When the virus cases exploded he then allowed them to impose mask restrictions which, by the time, needed to be state-wide so he would not take any heat from the base he relies on. He still won’t do what is needed an shut us down again because of his Donors.

Trump gave up before he even started. We still do not have enough tests or labs to process them 6 months in. We are living through a perfect storm of shite many of us saw coming, with no end in sight!

She said that scientist now think that antibody tests are not working after a few weeks. This means that those who have had COVID and survived are not retaining their immunity. If this is indeed the case we may never have a vaccine for this disease. This may be the new normal. I hope that this turns out to not be true, but it's a scary thought.
