Pence says U.S. in 'better place' on coronavirus even as new cases rise in 16 states
Source: MSN
WASHINGTON -- U.S. Vice President Mike Pence on Friday sounded a note of optimism about the novel coronavirus pandemic, saying that 34 states show a measure of stabilizing numbers of new cases, but encouraged people to continue social distancing and other strategies to help contain the spread of the virus.
Pence, at the first U.S. coronavirus task force briefing in months, said that 16 states are seeing an increase in infections and that the federal government is focused on rising cases in the South.
"As we see the new cases rising, and we're tracking them very carefully, there may be a tendency among the American people to think that we are back to that place that we were two months ago, that we're in a time of great losses and great hardship on the American people. The reality is we're in a much better place," Pence said. "The truth is we did slow the spread. We did flatten the curve," he added.
In about four months, more than 2.4 million people have been confirmed to have the coronavirus in the United States and over 124,000 have died of COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus.

Yup, I am sure the European Union is calling Trump/Pence and asking what is our secret. To put this into perspective, the entire EU has about the same population as the U.S.:

And all because, unlike the EU, we have criminals and mobsters in the white house politicizing mask-wearing instead of keeping things locked down long enough to work, as they did in the EU.

(15,224 posts)Texas is one of several states setting records for new cases every day. Your bullshit doesnt make it go away; it just makes your cult followers feel less threatened.
The rest of us are (rightfully) scared shitless because your administration allowed this to happen and has and is allowing people to die.
Fuck you, Pencie!

(36,962 posts)Pence takes credit that their death toll is less than earlier estimated (millions?).
Trump's estimate was '15 going down to almost zero'.
Everything above that is their personal death count.
Not-so-good.

(343 posts)Their base doesn't look past that, and they don't want to. They can't or their world would be turned upside down and inside out. It's very clear that Trump supporters can't function in reality, or in 2020. Really any world beyond 1950-ish, regardless of their age. I suspect for most of them Trump's America is the most "normal" they've felt in a long long time. He validates their base existence and gives them hope. Not the good kind. Not the kind that moves things forward but rather the kind that takes everyone back. Back to to the "good old days."
But, that's just my thoughts on it.
