Trump: 'With smaller testing we would show fewer cases'
Source: The Hill
President Trump asserted Tuesday that the United States would record fewer cases of the novel coronavirus with less testing after stirring controversy by saying over the weekend he asked aides to slow down testing.
Cases are going up in the U.S. because we are testing far more than any other country, and ever expanding. With smaller testing we would show fewer cases! Trump tweeted Tuesday morning.
Trump has been scrutinized for saying at a campaign rally in Tulsa, Okla., on Saturday that testing was a double-edged sword and that he told his staff to slow the testing down, please. The White House has said the comment was meant as a joke.

(111,352 posts)First of all, because like the popes, he's infallible. He can never admit an error of any type because he know that will make him look weak and weak bullies don't get to keep their enablers.
Second, he's all about those marketing numbers. He knows if the truth is told about how quickly this thing is spreading, people are not going to be going out to spend money and the economy will crash. The stupid part is in thinking the economy isn't crashing as people spend their money playing catch-up on mortgage and car payments and utilities and don't have money left over for anything but food.
Also, he really is an idiot.

Playing peek-a-boo with him must be a blast. He really does think that when he closes his eyes, you cease to exist.

Works the same for inspectors general: no inspections means no violations.

(54,443 posts)That's like saying that if there were less testing for pregnancy, there would be less pregnancies (for our visiting trolls from the right, in Republicanese, that's: "pregnancy's" ).

This dumb as a rock idiot is the reason why a national testing system wasn't set up in Feb. or early March at the latest, and why 121,000 Americans are dead.

(9,894 posts)I've never seen addressed is whether testing was actually slowed down due to his desire for fewer cases. Testing was lousy, but it was always supposedly because we didn't have enough tests. Was it actually purposely slowed down?
