LOS ANGELES (AP) - Arnold Schwarzenegger says his wife, Maria Shriver, was told to "snap out of it" by her mother for her attempts to persuade him against running for California governor in 2003, a conversation that ultimately opened the door to his successful candidacy.

Eunice Shriver told her daughter that her husband would be "angry for the rest of his life" if she stopped his ambitions, Schwarzenegger writes in his new autobiography, "Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story."

The former governor says in the book that he had decided against running to recall Gov. Gray Davis after his wife implored him not to for the sake of their family. Maria Shriver announced his decision to their four children.

But he writes that when Maria Shriver told her mother about her efforts to thwart Schwarzenegger's political ambitions, Eunice told her daughter that women in their family "always support the men when they want to do something." Schwarzenegger says he didn't know about the conversation at the time, but learned of it later.

Does anyone know if the book's forward might contain words of encouragement written by Para Salin, or how long it will take before it will be available for check-out at the Raygun library?

Being that I burned my Raygun library card (out of protest for his having decimated the NEA), I think I will just have to wait 3 weeks longer until I scoop it up from the .25 cent bin at the Carl Rove memorial garage sale.

21. This is not his first book. He's written about his work out program and such in the

past and one of his books is pretty interesting on the subject actually. I hate him, but among other things, you know folks can write in their first language and get it translated, people work with professional writers. What you are saying about his memory is false. He's scum, a liar, a cheater, a letcher. He is not illiterate nor is he stupid. In the past he has had things to write about and he has. His own visualization methods are pretty odd balls stuff, but I liked that book, yes I did, only good thing he's done without Cameron holding his hand.
It does no good to create a fictional version of our rivals ala Clint's empty chair. Arnold is all kinds of rotten, but he simply is not incapable of learning lines or constructing written words, he's fairly good at those things in fact. He's still corrupt and rude and bigoted and sexist and a hypocrite on a level few can aspire to attain, but stupid he is not.

She was poised to break out in a big way in broadcasting--she had the name recognition, the connections, and the abiity to connect with a camera; she was on her way to doing a Barbara Walters on Steroids.

He stole her career from her. He deceived her, and it's likely there's more "there" there than he's admitting in his confessional tome.

Oh, and he's no Lincoln. If they want to pair them, and give them rhyming names, he's Stinkin'--the sculpture is Lincoln.

irony is Arnold led to the defeat of Meg, which is good news for all liberal democrats who want to see a woman elected president in 2016 and not Meg as VP with Mitt this time.

And no, Arnold wasn't always straight. Go back to his very early days (way before he even made Hollywood movies, let alone politics). Either he used that to sleep his way to the top or he was not straight.

Jerry Brown is back and more beautiful than ever.
Had Arnold not been so bad, and had Meg bought her election, Jerry with zero money wouldn't have won, would he? And Meg would have been on her way to a national ticket either with Mitt this year or herself even this year. Thank whomever that Jerry destroyed her national hopes and outed her for what she was politically.


Think 2012 and 2016, not the now long ago past.
I was never saying Arnold was a good person, I was speaking ironically that he was so bad, it helped defeat Meg in 2010 and lead to much better times all around.

As for Maria, I think her mother gave her treasonous advice. She took on the role of a lying traitor to her country to help him become Governor. He was sinking in the polls over his groping of women and she defended him, all the while knowing full well he had a son with their housekeeper.

She may have an excuse for what she did but she's 100% accountable for her actions. She bears her not inconsiderable part of the blame for what he did to California.
