Bill Pullman Responds to Donald Trump's Altered 'Independence Day' Clip (Exclusive)

Source: Hollywood Reporter

President Donald Trump on Saturday shared a heavily altered video clip from the film Independence Day in which it appears that he gives the iconic speech from the President of the United States.

-snip-

Actor Bill Pullman, who played President Thomas J. Whitmore in Independence Day, was among those who saw the clip. And he responded.

"My voice belongs to no one but me, and I’m not running for president — this year," Pullman told The Hollywood Reporter.

Only Trump's face is superimposed in the video he shared, but the voice is still that of Pullman. It is unclear why Trump hijacked the moment.

Actually, it's been clear for a long time now that Trump will hijack any moment and any person or thing he believes will bolster his own malignant narcissistic ego and image.

He should have known Pullman wouldn't let this hijacking go without comment, though.

Pullman campaigned for Hillary Clinton in 2016

and in fact he'd watched "Independence Day" with the Clintons at a private screening at the White House the day before the film's nationwide release in July 1996:

And Pullman also recorded a COVID-19 PSA for Steuben County, New York, at the request of the county supervisor.

Article with the PSA, which was on Instagram:

I found it on Twitter. The responses, as usual, I’m Twitter are brutal. Why the press doesn’t include at least some of the replies to their reporting on his tweets still mystifies me.

It was all positive toward Obama. I forget what all of them were, but basically, Obama spoke for the virtual graduation thing on video and trended BIG TIME on Twitter. I'm talking major. This happened overnight while us night owls were awake. I wish I had gotten a screen grab. I have never seen Twitter trend where every single trend showing was a variation on one theme: Obama kicked ass in that graduation speech.

Ok, so Trump knew he could not make a video and say anything coherent, intelligent, or worth hearing. Instead, he put the doctored Pullman video up. It didn't' work. He was roundly raked over the coals for being inept and inadequate.

So, while it might not be clear to the writer, anyone saw/heard Obama and/or saw the outpouring of love for Obama, knows Trump put that video up because he can't make a video as good as Obama did.

In other words, Obama spoke and was relaxed, calm, cool, collected, coherent, and did it with ease. Trump knew he could not compete and instead did what he did. He's such a buffoon and so transparent.

May 2020

When Independence Day opened, the late night comedians had fun commenting about the Clinton's reaction to the film. One wag, I forget which one, said that when asked how he liked the movie, President Clinton said, "Well, the aliens blew up Congress and the First Lady dies. I liked it!"

As usual, Trump tries to do something clever and/or funny and it just fails. He's so damn inept. I miss having a smart president like Clinton or Obama.

Nothing in that skit about blowing up Congress, though the aliens did blow up the Capitol in the film.

just how pathetically needy rump is.

He's seeing the adoration that Obama gets (deserving so), as well as the adoration that an actor gets, for playing a fake presidents and he is craving it, desperately.

Maybe if he acted presidential for once, eh?

I think that he thinks being 'presidential' is keeping his nose tilted upwards, w/ a perpetual frown on his face always, and signing executive orders that no one can figure out if that's his signature or not.

He obviously thinks that he is above the rest of us, and thus, he can barely restrain himself from throwing up, in having to deal w/ us regular people.

He's just a moron and loser. I can't wait until Nov. 2020 rolls around, and he's told: 'You're FIRED'
