A nurse without an N95 mask raced in to treat a 'code blue' patient. She died 14 days later

Source: LA Times

The decision that Celia Marcos made, the one that would ultimately steal years from her life, had been hard-wired after decades working as a nurse.

On the ward that she oversaw at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, a man with COVID-19 had stopped breathing. Marcos’ face was covered only with a thin surgical mask, and obtaining a more protective N95 mask before entering his room would have wasted valuable time, her colleagues say.

The 61-year-old charge nurse knew the chest compressions and other breathing treatments the patient needed would likely spew dangerous virus particles into the air that could land on her face and clothing. She would be at high risk of catching the coronavirus.

Marcos raced into the room. Fourteen days later, she was dead.

While Trump and Fox News promote COVID-19 protests and parties against social distancing and lying about the availability of tests and PPE, health care professional on the frontlines are paying the price.

2. No evidence for Trump's suggestion that masks are 'going out the back door' of New York hospitals

Of course, Trump has accused healthcare workers of being thieves to hide his administration's incompetence.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/no-evidence-trump-s-suggestion-masks-are-going-out-back-n1172251

President Donald Trump again questioned the rate at which a hospital in New York is using medical supplies, suggesting that theft was why the unnamed facility needs 300,000 masks a week.

The president claimed Monday that a distributor told him that a New York hospital's mask purchases were far too high to reflect actual need.

"There's only a couple of things that could happen — is it going out the back door? And I've reported it to the city and let the city take a look at it. But when you go to 10,000 masks to 300,000 masks... there's something going on," Trump said during a coronavirus task force briefing at the White House.

He made the same claim on Sunday, too.

That is why I have my own raided from my husband's garage. However if I use it on a COVID patient it will then need to be discarded due to the outside will be contaminated. So I also have a washable face shield.

Many hospitals and clinics should have a way to disinfect or sanitize since douchebag is deliberately holding up masks.

Gavin Newsom did this because, well, governors been screwing up, so he should have made sure she had the proper equipment

or

She knew what she was getting into when she took that job so it's a terrible loss, but the result of an occupational hazard

or

The nurse may have been drinking heavily, sources say she had a problem with alcohol and may have caused the patient's distress by her malpractice

or

There's no proof that this so called covid-19 virus had anything to do with this nurse's death. It's all just media hype by libtards who want to make the president look bad.

The list goes on

She generally bounces around wherever she is needed. Yesterday we were talking and she said "Mom, it is so bad" They had 3 covid code blues at the same time Saturday night. She also said most of the ICU patients are hispanic men, then black men, then one black woman and one cambodian man. No caucasian people at all. They also had to get a couple of these beds that she described like a rotisserie. The patient is strapped into it and then flipped over because they can't breathe on their back. This is in Providence, RI.

I worry about her but she only has 4 more days left before she moves to Virginia to work in a pulmanary dept at a hospital there. I pray things won't get bad there.

Sigh.
