Fauci to begin 'modified quarantine'
Source: CNN
(CNN)Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and member of the White House's coronavirus task force, tells CNN he will begin a "modified quarantine" after making a "low risk" contact with the White House staffer who tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The "low risk" assessment means he was not in close proximity to the person who tested positive during the time when that person was known to be positive for the virus.
He is not doing a full quarantine like Stephen Hahn, the commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration. Robert Redfield, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will self-quarantine for two weeks after he was exposed to a person at the White House who tested positive for Covid-19, a CDC spokesperson confirmed to CNN.
To air on the side of caution, Fauci said he is doing what he calls a "modified quarantine," meaning he will stay at home and telework, wearing a mask continually, for 14 days. He said he might also go to his office at the National Institutes of Health where he is the only one there. He also will be tested every day, he said, noting he was tested yesterday and was negative.

(20,876 posts)I wouldn't have passed Journalism 100 as an undergrad had I written something like that!
Makes you feel so confident doesn't it?
Glad you noticed that too. I had to go back and keep rereading it because I thought I was missing something. Very annoying.
A lot of what I see written is cringe-worthy.

(4,007 posts)Was this intentional, meaning did Trump or his minions plan to infect the doctors to avoid questions on why they won't appear again anytime soon. This must mean Dr. Fauci won't testify at the upcoming Senate hearing on the 12th, thereby allowing Trump to get away with murder and not have Fauci dispute his statments.
And yes, Trump would do ANYTHING at this stage to silence his critics, even his own doctor team.

(9,893 posts)to me. Quarantining for a low risk contact? Weve probably all had a low risk contact. Very fishy!

(6,537 posts)This is stupid. I appreciate a straight forward approach where the main guy speaking on behalf of the government isn't trying to bullshit us.
Everything we have witnessed about this virus shows us that a full quarantine is what he needs to do. And, why can't he work from home? Why does he have to go into his office if there is no one else there?
If he was exposed to the virus but is asymptomatic, what is he saying about this virus, that it's okay to walk through the building and shed virus every step of the way? I'm glad he doesn't feel sick and he tests negative, but he's just in denial, the same as the rest of us.
Tell us where our PPEs are, Fauci.

(12,792 posts)this is a "teachable moment" where we can all learn how we can go to work at our workplace (such as a meat processing plant) and still be safe.
How's that been working out for the meat processing plants?

They fixed the air/err issue now but still it looks like too many news outlets rush to publish without much QA.
