Almost HALF of Republicans Think Government is Exaggerating Reported Coronavirus Deaths

Source: Mediaite

A new poll shows that a shocking percentage of Republican voters — nearly half — believe that fewer people have died from the coronavirus than the government is reporting.

In a new Economist/YouGov poll, respondents were asked “Do you think the government is accurately reporting the number of people who have died from COVID-19 or do you think more people have died from the virus or fewer people have died from the virus?”

A clear plurality — 39 percent — said that more people have died than the government has reported, while just 17 percent said fewer have died. Only 21 percent said the government’s numbers are accurate. That basic result — that a plurality say more people have died — was consistent across every demographic category. It’s also consistent with reporting on excess deaths that aren’t being included in the official death toll.

But among Republican primary voters, a whopping 47 percent said that fewer people have died, and only 12 percent said that more people have died than have been reported.

The government downplays everything and won't test and count and compile. If numbers are in error they are on the low side.

If there is an effort to exaggerate deaths and hurt Trump, it would require thousands of people conspiring together across the country.

Republicans are fucking stupid.

with trump support

it will show it is the single biggest correlation, more than fox, much more if measured by hours

limbaugh has led 1500 radio stations with the denial and blame shifting and now like after katrina we will allow them to blame shift to dem govs and obama - localizing it because unlike fox, those stations are all getting local/state GOP input/coordination

like when the the shitwad head of GOP for NM, who ran hiss political career through talk radio and is angling for gov of NM, criticizes the gov of NM on fox by repeating the exact same bullshit the local talk stations, blowhards, and callers repeat for hours - like why does the dem gov allow the big boxes to stay open but not the small shops? so another dumbshit republican who thinks he's smart enough to run a state can't figure that out.......

They live in a self-involved, made up world, supported by Faux propaganda and Nazi friendly talk radio stations. They wouldn't know reality if it bit them in the ass. One thing is for certain, not believing in reality will bite you in the ass - it is unfolding right now. They are culling their own tribe. Good!

which is the best part of this scenario (and saddest really being that they had ample warnings).

They are not going to be able to blame anyone else but themselves when they start coming down sick, ill, or worse, w/ the CV. Because they seem to want to blame everybody else but themselves when something 'bad' happens. Ranting and raving doesn't solve problems, nor, I suspect, getting the guns out either.

I haven't seen many comprehensive patterns of the CV infection rates emerging yet, but I suspect that in a lot of rural places, the CV is starting to get a foothold, and thus spreading beyond their attempts to corral.

I do know that in MO, the %s of CV cases is increasing at a higher % in rural counties, then in urban areas, thus eventually putting the medical resources of these counties at risk, being that most rural hospitals have either closed, reduced staff, or consolidated. This in turn will cascade down to urban medical facilities being overwhelmed w/ rural CV cases, on top of the urban CV cases too.

Thu May 7, 2020, 01:04 PM
May 2020

They will spread misinformation and sow doubt and convince millions despite the reality of an ever-growing body count, because that’s the only Defense they have left - lies and propaganda to distort the truth of the scale of this catastrophe.

If they convince enough people, they believe the economy will “bounce back” and give Trump a better chance of being re-elected.

Fox will likely take the lead on this, as will GOP elected officials.

They will straight faced lie and tell you “COVID is not killing as many people as the hospitals say”

There is no chance they are exaggerating the numbers.

14. i just got off the phone with one...
Thu May 7, 2020, 01:29 PM
May 2020

My nail tech who I called to cancel an appointment I had with her tomorrow morning. She is a nice gal I have known since my late teens, but she has taken a deep dive into conspiracy theories. I was asked why I was cancel ling and I said I just don't feel comfortable going out much yet. We live in Arizona, and the governor has allowed openings to start this Friday, rather than the 15th, as originally planned. She proceeded to regale me with conspiracy theories involving Dr. Fauchi and Bill Gates, flu shots have Corona virus in them, which brings up the numbers of people who have it. Also, they are using fear to control us and will change mankind forever...then I was told how Maduro and Dr. Fauchi will make money producing the vaccine...Dr. Fauchi has already made billions...we need to utilize the "Herd" immunity, oh yes 10% will die, but they would have anyway. It's necessary because it will create immunity...Masks don't work, in fact make us sick. ...the government is using it to go into globalism on and on and fucking ON....

After countering her ridiculous theories, I finally asked her, "hey, wouldn't you have gotten unemployment for all those weeks back, had you made it to next week rather than go back to work Friday?"...she said "Yeah." I said, "Don't you think that's a coincidence, that just before you and others would get all that back pay, you're being told it's okay to go back to work? And don't you wonder what happens to all that money? And what happened to all the PPE that the states and health facilities ordered that was intercepted, and never received? Where did that go? You should ask yourself that,, and also who benefits from all of it? There is a lot of disinformation out there, and it sounds to me like you're reading several theories, all woven together."

All I got back was silence, and a change of subject. I doubt I made a dent in her thinking. Where she gets this garbage, I do not know, but after hearing someone I care for spew such crap, I see how twisted their thinking is. I will drag myself over broken glass to vote this November if necessary. People are being infected, and I don't just mean Corona virus.
