First April Tropical Depression on Record Has Formed in the Eastern Pacific Well South of Baja Calif
Source: Weather.com
Tropical Depression One-E has formed well south of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula, becoming the first April tropical depression and the earliest formation of a tropical cyclone on record in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
This tropical depression is located over 700 miles southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja Peninsula.
Satellite imagery shows the area of thunderstorms had become better organized and a well-defined center developed Saturday morning, but daytime heating caused some decay in thunderstorms Saturday afternoon.
Weak tropical systems like TD1-E are usually more susceptible to daily changes in heating, and they usually blossom overnight as the atmosphere cools off.
