NYC Poison Control Calls for Bleach, Lysol Double After Trump Disinfectant Comment

Calls to New York City's Poison Control Center for exposure to certain household chemicals more than doubled after President Donald Trump suggested injecting disinfectant might be one way to combat COVID-19, the city said Saturday.

In the 18 hours after the president's suggestion during a Thursday night news conference, the city center got 30 exposure calls -- nine specifically about Lysol, 10 about bleach and 11 about other household cleaners. In the same window last year, there were 13 cases -- two specifically about bleach and none of them about Lysol-related products.

The president came in for near-universal condemnation Friday after his suggestion, with health officials and even some close allies rushing to warn that the public should not listen to him and should not ingest or inject disinfectant, bleach or any other household chemical.

The maker of Lysol, British consumer goods company RB, even felt compelled to issue a statement urging the public in no uncertain terms not to consume its products.

because he's a profoundly ignorant man, among his other glaring faults. But he's not ignorant enough to try any of those remedies on himself. Given that Trump lies so much, and given that he wasn't willing to do a personal demonstration, I don't believe that anyone of normal intelligence - meaning someone without profound mental impairment - would try any of those ideas out.

the whole thing was a retort to a snarky reporter who asked a stupid question. That was the first excuse, which then morphed into the sarcastic excuse. They fail to mention that Trump had just stepped to the podium, and no one had yet spoken a single word when he started his disinfectant diatribe.

Even Trump realized what as idiot he is, and decided he won't talk any more at the daily briefings. Yeah, that will last 2 days....tops, and he'll be instructing us again on how to respond to the virus. Of course HE won't do anything to control it, being the most powerful man on the face of the planet and all, but he'll bless us with his scientific and medical acumen about what WE should do.

9. COVID-19 + Trump equals a horrible death

As if the disease weren't bad enough (and experts are predicting it will get worse before it gets better), Trump's ignorant statements and inaction at the beginning of the pandemic is resulting in tens of thousands of needless deaths. Add in the stupidity of Trump followers -- who proudly support their leader while protesting infringement on their freedoms (freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to carry AR-15s at rallies, freedom to infect themselves and their children by ignoring social distancing requirements, freedom to die a horrible death alone, with no one allowed to be there to comfort them as they take their last breath) -- and you end up with a situation where a large number of people will die from ignorance and lemming-like behavior.

Had we any other person in the WH -- even a high school senior -- we would be doing far better than we are under this ignorant narcissist.
