BREAKING: Georgia governor to order shelter in place to curb coronavirus
Source: Atlanta Journal Constitution
Gov. Brian Kemp on Wednesday said he is preparing a statewide shelter-in-place order across Georgia to try to curb the spread of a coronavirus pandemic thats sickened thousands and is linked to the deaths of at least 139 residents.
The new rules, which he will issue on Thursday, are set to run from Friday through April 13. He also said he would immediately sign an order that would close K-12 schools through the rest of the academic year.
He said his decision was triggered by "game-changing new projections on the diseases spread in Georgia. He also said he was informed of new data that this virus is now transmitting before people see signs.
Those individuals could have been infecting people before they ever felt that. We didnt know that until the last 24 hours, he said.

(5,801 posts)like kemp and desantis apparently can't read a graph, or one of the many other sources of information, documenting exponential growth during unchecked spread. They didn't even pay attention to recent examples in e.g. Italy. They had to wait until seeing it happen in the USA, thereby losing months of preparedness and dooming thousands more of their citizens to perish.
No one that stupid or willfully ignorant should be governing anything.

(129,465 posts)he brought a bunch of states along with him - GA, MS and yes even PA, with our infamous "Pennsyltucky", which tried to hold out to the very end until Wolf wielded the final ban hammer after 60 of the 67 counties (including that rural top part of the Pennsyltucky "T" ) had registered positives, and established that no one was immune.

@GovernorTomWolf
Today Im ordering all Pennsylvanians to stay at home indefinitely.
I am doing this to avoid an exponential growth in the number of #COVID19 cases across our commonwealth.
Stay at home

He started out as a builder and real estate developer in Athens, GA. He has always been a GOP tool. Lets not forget how he stole the gubernatorial election while in office as Secretary of State.

(45,806 posts)already. We began on March 20th. All of our restaurants that haven't closed have switched to curb service only...no dining room service at all, and that includes fast food places too.
I think a lot of people have been staying home even without an order. The ones who aren't, other than those who have mandatory jobs, are the people who still think the virus isn't that big of a thing. Becoming infected is a magical cure for that!

(18,641 posts)Bullshit. He'd have to have been on a climb to the top of Everest or hiking the Appalachian Trail for the past month not to have seen the grass fire sweeping the nation. Now that his pant cuffs are on fire it's time to rake up the dead leaves.
It sounds like he's really going with: "Now that I've studied the problem from all angles...".

Ok, so now we know that it doesn't take symptoms to spread this. Great breaking news, guv.
