He added that Cuomo had the chance to buy 16,000 ventilators in 2015 but didn’t do so.

It is not clear what Trump was talking about, but an opinion piece in the New York Post last week made a similar claim. Trump frequently repeats ideas and arguments he has read in conservative media.

The Hill has reached out to the White House for clarification.

Since Cuomo is getting attention as a real leader during this pandemic, Fat Donnie has his staff working overtime finding things to tear him down. Trump always seems to always have at his fingertips information that deflects criticism of him to another person, whether it's true or not. His fallback is, "I inherited a mess from the previous administration..."

the Feds. He said the Fed. Gov't. is the BEST to source & buy supplies like ventilators & masks BECAUSE if each State puts in a order someone has to decide who gets the shipments. If the Feds put the order THEY would get all the items as they're made and THEY can control distribution based upon need.

We already have people saying that the feds should immediately empty the stockpile for those currently in need--that it's precisely immoral for them to control who gets the distribution based upon need. With the assumption, since those pushing that idea don't cite the swag sent to NY, that nothing's being sent.

As soon as you're in charge of a large area, you have to consider the needs of the entire area. Cuomo can focus on his people, but every other governor would be pissed if he got what he needed and, in two weeks, there's a massive death toll in their states because Cuomo was first in line.

This lesson was brought home to me by a nuclear engineer on an academic committee. The student committee members without vote on it were arguing against a change. But the proposal had to be on the agenda twice for discussion before a vote could be taken in meeting 3. After meeting 1 something happened--the long awaited approval of the students to actually have their vote count. By the time of the vote, half voted against the measure and half-voted in favor. Those that voted against said, "This is bad for the 50 students currently there." And those who voted for said, "Yeah, but my kid brother wants the program that'll result after the change, and there'll be over 100 of them. I'm not voting for 50 grads a year, I'm voting for 100 student-graduates a year. It'll hurt 50, and help 100." Responsibility is sobering, or at least should be. If it's something you can slip right through and let somebody else holding the bag, it's less likely to be sobering.

US case load doubling every 2 1/2 days, growing by 10x every 8 days. Three-four weeks is 21-28 days, call it 24. That's 3 stages of 10x, which is 1000x.

Might be lower if physical distancing and closures effective (complied with) in NY and California and 11 states.

Still, if you stretch out the 10x to every 12 days, that is 100x in 24 days.

That would be 5,000,000 cases in the USA and 2,500,000 in New York state.
