Source: ABC News
Public criticism of Mitt Romney's race for the White House has risen sharply, with six in 10 Americans expressing a negative opinion of how he's handling his campaign and a majority responding unfavorably to his comments on people who don't pay income taxes.
Sixty-one percent in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll hold an unfavorable view of how Romney's handling his presidential campaign, up by 12 percentage points since mid-July. Far fewer, 35 percent, rate Romney's performance positively, essentially unchanged.

(102,405 posts)but, they should... I hope she continues to do her elitist little snobby performances from now until November. She's our own little real time negative ad for Romney, reinforcing what an arrogant putz he is.

(582 posts)Romney is doing a good job himself, and his partner Ryan, and filling their own shoes with bullet holes. Let's keep negative comments about potential presidential spouses in Republican mouths. We've got more class.

(102,405 posts)of something I have very clearly NOT done. Your finger-wagging is rude and totally unwarranted!
And, yes, when you have a potential First Lady out there campaigning on behalf of their husband (as was the case with Michelle Obama), it is fair to discuss how they are being perceived and the extent to which they are an asset to the ticket. Totally fair.
And, in the case of Ann Romney, even her husband is on tape as telling wealthy donors that they are limiting her appearances so as not to tire audiences of her.

(582 posts)I was having a testy morning on Yahoo, and I nuanced an attack on Ann. Being I detest attacks in any form on Michelle, I really am sent ive about not stooping to "those people" to use Lee's phrase, level. Again, I made an error.

(102,405 posts)and fwiw, I agree that First Ladies should, in general, be off limits for personal attacks--as should the kids.
Much appreciated....

The obvious distraction is in person fraud, but that is smoke and mirrors to distract from a Florida 2000 and Ohio 2004.
Pelosi mentioned this in passing on Rachel last night.

(22,917 posts)It almost shocked me to hear hear her start to "go there", but good for her. We live in a world where Trojans are created to sabotage national economies, electronic voting machines are child's play. Having said that, Republicans were no less willing to lose in 2008 than they are this year. Elections most at risk of being stolen are those that are perceived to be very tight races. So far we seem to be in good shape to avoid that threat an the Presidential level at least.
