Ohio unemployment claims rise dramatically since DeWine announced business closures

COLUMBUS, Ohio The number of claims people filed for unemployment compensation has risen dramatically in Ohio since Governor Mike DeWine ordered many businesses to close amid the coronavirus outbreak.
On Sunday, DeWine said bars and restaurants needed to close and on Monday, DeWine said fitness centers, bowling alleys, movie theaters, and indoor water and trampoline parks needed to close.
According to a spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services, there is $1.13 billion in the fund for unemployment compensation as of Tuesday afternoon.
The spokesperson also said the office received 48,640 claims over the last two days compared to 1,825 claims during the same two days last week.................
