Trump Signs Coronavirus Funding Bill, Cancels Trip to CDC
Source: NPR
President Trump on Friday signed into law an $8 billion emergency funding package for the coronavirus response.
Vice President Pence had said on Thursday evening that Trump would sign the bill while visiting the Atlanta headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Protection.
But the White House suddenly canceled the planned visit, saying on Friday that Trump "does not want to interfere" with the CDC's work.
Trump instead signed the bill before he left for his trip, where he will survey tornado damage in Tennessee and attend political events in Palm Beach, Fla.
This story will be updated.

(2,596 posts)Fucking coward. Sooo, he just used the free time to tee up.
These fucking retrumplicans - all of them to a man or woman - remind me of those wealthy, entitled brats on the Titanic that locked the steerage cabin doors and pushed people out of line for the few places on the lifeboats that remained before it sunk a mile below the North Atlantic.

(959 posts)not the spew he says. He's going to stop having his camp meetings, because of the possibility of sick people. Either that, or he'll be wheeled out to the podium in a glass enclosure. Dump is a germophobe; he won't take the chance.

(129,096 posts)Shortly after the White House said President Trump has canceled plans to visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Trump told reporters he may visit on Friday after all. The White House had suddenly called off the trip, saying early Friday that Trump "does not want to interfere" with the CDC's work.
But the president had a different explanation. "They had one person who was potentially infected," Trump told reporters, saying the White House had learned about the suspect case on Thursday. The staffer was tested and was cleared. "It turned out negative, so we'll see if we can do it," he said of the visit.
Trump made the comments shortly before leaving for his trip; he will first stop in Tennessee to survey tornado damage. It was not immediately clear what suspected coronavirus case he was referring to nor was it clear whether his travels plans would allow for an Atlanta stop. "We're going to try to go," he said. "I may be going, we're going to see if we can turn it around."
