The CDC today abruptly postponed a press briefing on the coronavirus response.

CDC spokesperson Ben Haynes told reporters on the scheduled call that it had been pushed back and did not provide an explanation as to why or when it would be rescheduled. A White House spokesperson later said the CDC would participate in an afternoon briefing today on the coronavirus response with Vice President Mike Pence.

The postponement of the briefing comes after a number of states reported new cases over the weekend and federal officials confirmed the country’s first and second deaths from the virus. CDC has been holding sporadic telephone briefings with reporters, including a call on Saturday after the first death in the U.S. was announced.

CDC Director Robert Redfield told POLITICO last week that his agency intended to continue holding the calls and briefing the press as the coronavirus response evolves. The CDC today also removed information on its website that detailed how many people in the country had been tested for the virus. It now only displays the number of confirmed cases. CDC has not yet responded to a request for comment.

I was 3 months pregnant and lived near TMI... the newspapers were publishing very vague but still scarey articles and primitive diagrams of what was going on. My husband put me on a plane (which was full of other pregoes) and when I landed in Miami I bought a paper and lo and behold there was INFORMATION beyond what was being published in PA and multiple DETAILED diagrams of what was going on.
It melted down anyway, but at least I got to read about it.

Long ago it become impossible for any movie to frighten me (OK, except for that evil ghost kid crawling out of the TV near the end of The Ring), but your photo gave me goosebumps. (Maybe it reminded me of seeing Psycho for the first time when I was 13.)

More a thriller than horror, really - but nevertheless.

And the Seattle/Pacific Northwest setting really added to the effect (although I believe it was filmed in Vancouver, as so many films are).

And recent horror? Check out The Toy Box if you haven't already. Not for the faint of heart - but a simple yet interesting plot and great build-up.

on however many testing kits there are available, last report we had maybe 1% of the number of kits required for this. And from the looks of it, there has been a surge in cases in China. Amazing that's there has only been one case in russia and it disappeared from the map... was there yesterday.
