Washington governor declares state of emergency over virus

Source: Seattle PI

The governor of Washington state declared a state of emergency Saturday after a man died there of COVID-19, the first such reported death in the United States. More than 50 people in a nursing facility are sick and being tested for the virus.

Gov. Jay Inslee directed state agencies to use “all resources necessary” to prepare for and respond to the coronavirus outbreak. The declaration also allows the use of the Washington National Guard, if necessary.

“We will continue to work toward a day where no one dies from this virus," the governor vowed.

Health officials in California, Oregon and Washington state are worried about the novel coronavirus spreading through West Coast communities because people are being infected by unknown means. They had not visited an area where there was an outbreak, nor apparently been in contact with anyone who had.

spread will at least subside in the Northern Hemisphere when the weather warms up. Of course the flip side of this might be that it will get worse in the Southern Hemisphere as winter approaches there. Also, similar viruses of this type do seem to flourish during warmer temperatures. But of course Trump and Pence are clueless fools anyway.

Where people are medically stable but very frail. There is little that can be done to stop it since people seem to be transmitting it before they have any idea they've been exposed.

or not, and act accordingly. All staff should wear full protective gear at all times when in contact with residents for the protection of both themselves and the residents. However, I doubt if enough supplies are available to supply every facility with what it needs. And I don't trust Trump and company to do much about it.

and they're understaffed and staff have little protective gear since patients are shipped to hospitals when they are ill. People shed this virus long before they're ill, and that's why this is going to spread so quickly.

been prevented from doing so in the first place!

..............The number of coronavirus cases in the United States is considered small. But convinced that they will grow, health agencies are ramping up efforts to identify those who might be sick.

To achieve more rapid testing capacity, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an accelerated policy Saturday enabling laboratories to use tests they develop. FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn said his agency is "rapidly responding and adapting to this dynamic and evolving situation.”............

Could be carrying virus...

Some people carry virus showing no symptoms...

There are literally hundreds if not thousands of ways of transmission...without traveling outside your community..
