National Public Radio (NPR) has seen an increase in donations since a feud between the network and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo began, an official for NPR confirmed Thursday.
The donations from listeners are spread across NPRs more than 1,000 member stations, spokeswoman Isabel Lara said in an email.
"It is always wonderful to hear from listeners who value public radio, Lara added. NPR encourages individuals to donate to their local Member stations. Member stations provide essential financial support to NPR. By supporting your local station, you support NPR and you support local journalism.
The Washington Post first reported the influx in donations.

(22,756 posts)it was called "National Public Radio" for a reason

President Lyndon B. Johnson signs the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967, creating the Corporation for Public Broadcasting
The law that I will sign shortly offers one answer to that question.
It announces to the world that our Nation wants more than just material wealth; our Nation wants more than a "chicken in every pot." We in America have an appetite for excellence, too.
While we work every day to produce new goods and to create new wealth, we want most of all to enrich man's spirit. That is the purpose of this act.
It will give a wider and, I think, stronger voice to educational radio and television by providing new funds for broadcast facilities.
It will launch a major study of television's use in the Nation's classrooms and their potential use throughout the world.
Finally--and most important--it builds a new institution: the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

(22,124 posts)pompeo mouthed off at the npr reporter. Pompeo seems to have something against freedom of the press, and showed it clearly with this npr reporter. He showed his true colors. Every time someone mouths off against NPR and the unbiased reporting it does, I'll donate. Perhaps maybe just one time, he'll shut his filthy mouth once he realizes that everytime he opens his mouth, it'll cost them (pompeo, rump, etc.)

(6,831 posts)with poor impulse control, who hates being forced to respect women. Mary Louis Kelly is not the first woman against who he has vented his toxic spleen. There have been others. This is a pattern of behavior for him. He is a vulgar, low-IQ reptile. That trumpie lauded him for his vile treatment of Kelly just shows you how little these GOP men think of women.
