Trump Mocks Proposal to Build NY Sea Wall to Prevent Flood Damage: 'Get Your Mops & Buckets Ready!'

Source: Mediaite

President Donald Trump mocked a proposal to prevent flooding damage in New York City by building a sea wall, saying residents will “just have to get your mops & buckets ready!”

“A massive 200 Billion Dollar Sea Wall, built around New York to protect it from rare storms, is a costly, foolish & environmentally unfriendly idea that, when needed, probably won’t work anyway,” Trump claimed Saturday. “It will also look terrible. Sorry, you’ll just have to get your mops & buckets ready!”

-snip-

The New York Times notes the Corps has estimated the wall would cost $119 billion – not $200 billion as Trump wrongly claimed – and would take 25 years to build.

Additionally in 2016, Trump applied to build a sea wall at his Ireland golf resort – pointing to erosion risk exacerbated by “global warming and its effects.”

is that Generalissimo Corpulente is pretending to give a damn about the environment.

Costly? Foolish? "Probably won't work anyway"? What, you mean like your idiotic wall?

Against sea walls, "because they probably won't work, they'll cost too much, environmentally unfriendly....oh, and my property values..."

He is garbage day in and day out.

Wait til Maga lago is being worn into to sand by the sea. He'll be all for sea walls then

but if it did he would probably get the taxpayers to bail him out (literally) or his spawn will do it after he kicks the bucket. They'll just tell their insur company it was worth 10 times what the real value is and profit in true tRump fashion.

few places, sea levels are rising (San Diego, NYC, Norfork, FL (where the freshwater tables are being impacted already), other places). Seems like every time I turn around, there are new stories of higher sea levels impacting this or that.

And as someone said earlier in a prior post, he even applied to build his own seawall.

Like someone said, he's looking for some sort of payoff, since he's not involved with initial efforts, and probably miffed that he's not getting any kind of kickback.

As it is, there's an awful lot of controversy as to the type of storm surge barriers the Corps of Engineers are proposing. At least six (6) proposals are on the table, and there have been numerous hearings for the past 2 years.

That aside, this is coming our way and cities near sea level will be facing drastic changes. On a lighter note, I do like the Maralago/ Atlantis analogy.

He's missing a glorious photo opportunity to toss paper towels to residents at the next storm!

Then deny federal FEMA help!

Gotta go out and stock up on things at my favorite hardware store. Then I'm going to hoard them and sell them off at exuberant prices when the environmental apocalypse hits.

It's different when it's a tRump property, though, like his FL or Ireland or Scotland resorts and golf courses.

we can get to build this cost and time effectively. Too stupid funding Xenophobia while our population/economic/social centers go under water. Republicans have been running a "Going Out of Business Sale" for the past 30 years....sad that the majority of Republican voters can't figure it out.

They'll probably have to do something like this if the city wants to survive the next century.
