First lady: Voting rights is 'movement of our era'

Source: AP via KHOU

WASHINGTON (AP) — Michelle Obama says protecting the right to vote has become the nation's most important civil rights issue.

The first lady tells a gathering of black lawmakers and leaders that they owe it to those who fought and died for equal rights in the 1960s to make sure every voter can freely cast a ballot.

Her comments at an annual awards banquet for the Congressional Black Caucus come amidst a push in more than a dozen states to pass laws requiring voters to show ID at the polls. Critics say the laws unfairly harm minorities, poor people and college students — all groups that tend to vote Democratic.

The Republicans used vote suppression and vote denial to steal two elections. We won't let them do it a third time.

Frivolous claims of 30,000 dead voters on the rolls in North Carolina by a tea party group called the Voter Integrity Project, considering the last election was won by just over 14,000 votes in North Carolina. The company claims to be a Non-partisan, Non-profit organization, but they are listed on the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State website as a Business (BUS), and as a Business, their tax returns are private. We may never know who's funding them.

Especially in educating people of the tactics the GOP has used year in and year out to exclude Democratic voters from the polls.

when African Americans struggled to vote but today its Romney's 47% that is struggling against another form of voter repression. Back then it was the Democratic party, today the Republican party. Back then it was motivated by racism, today the motivation is both racism and class warfare.

No matter what happens, rethugs never really apologize.
Mitt keeps saying "the race is neck and neck" when he knows it's not close.
Ryan talks crazy about what he is going to do to Medicare the day after they are elected.
They may be stupid but they couldn't be that crazy.

They know a lot that we could not believe.....Get out the vote! !!!

True the Vote are planning to cause some serious issues this election. They want to challenge 1 million votes (which will almost certainly be those of minorities, citizens who weren't born here etc).

At least here in CO we've got an organization that is trying to mitigate some of their shenanigans. http://www.justvotecolorado.org/ Hopefully other states have similar groups.
