Georgia's new GOP senator plans 'no' vote on removing Trump

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — The Republican businesswoman who will soon become Georgia's newest U.S. senator said Thursday she plans to vote against removing President Donald Trump from office.

Kelly Loeffler is scheduled to be sworn in when the Senate convenes Monday in Washington. Her first vote she casts as a senator could come at the conclusion of Trump's impeachment trial on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Trump is expected to be acquitted by the GOP-controlled Senate , where a two-thirds vote is necessary for conviction.

On social media and in a recent newspaper op-ed column, Loeffler has criticized impeachment proceedings in the Democrat-controlled House as a “sham,” a “sideshow” and a “distraction.” Speaking to reporters Thursday after a tour of the Port of Savannah, she confirmed that she intends to vote “No” on removing Trump from office.

“I don’t think there was due process followed in the House proceeding, so it would be very difficult to understand how that would not be the conclusion," Loeffler said. “So yes, I would support a ‘No’ vote on impeachment.” She did not specify what the alleged due process violations were.

I live in Georgia. I don’t think I can possibly take any more of what the Georgia GOP does to us on a daily basis. Nazi Kemp stole the gubernatorial election from Abrams while he was running the election as Secretary of State.

Now, we have this lowest common denominator GOP idiot in the senate.

My blue town is gerrymandered. I have not a single Democrat representing me in any office.

Argghhhhhhhh!

To make things even worse, Kemp is from my part of the state, Paul Broun Jr. used to be my crazy GOP congressman, but now I’m saddled with nutcase Jody Hice, who was part of the illegal stunt when the GOP invaded the secure room in the US Capitol while carrying cell phones and ordering pizza.

I’ll be working to GOTV again this year. We were so close when Abrams ran for Governor.

thanks to then Democratic Secretary of State, Cathy Cox. That was the beginning of the purge of Democrats from almost every local, state and federal office.

In my blue town, the GOP pushed through a confusing special question vote during a non-standard time special election, to make our solid blue county’s commission elections non-partisan, while all surrounding red counties kept partisan elections. The surrounding red counties then threatened all Democrats still in office in those counties to switch parties or be voted out of office.

Then, the state split our town in half for state & federal voting districts, so that each blue half was stuck with rural, Xtian, KKK wingnut racists.

How she can say it’s a sham when she herself is contributing to the sham. She has decided before the SENATE TRIAL that she will ignore any facts that might become clear, and will simply vote “no”.

Yea, it’s a sham alright. On that I agree.

Well, I might live in Blue NY but I have “lovely” “Elusive” Elisa Stefanik as my rep. Gawd.
