President Donald Trump Claps Back At 'Home Alone' Snub Via Twitter: "The Movie Will Never Be The Sam

President Donald Trump has responded to the apparent Canadian snub of his cameo in Home Alone with two tweets.

Canada’s public broadcaster cut Trump’s brief appearance in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York for its Christmas Eve airing of the 1992 holiday hit. It issued a statement denying any political maneuvering.

“As is often the case with feature films adapted for television, Home Alone 2 was edited for time. The scene with Donald Trump was one of several that were cut from the movie as none of them were integral to the plot. These edits were done in 2014 when we first acquired the film and before Mr. Trump was elected President.”

The Commander-in-Tweet has taken it in stride. He noted in his first volley, “The movie will never be the same! (just kidding).”

The best part of Trump being edited out of Home Alone 2 movie is the chance to remind everyone that the only reason he was in it is because he forced producers who shot movies at his hotels to feature him in a cameo. Most had the good sense to cut him from the final edit.

7. Trump wasn't supposed to be in the movie

In truth, the scene was never meant to be part of it. Trump routinely mandates that in return for filming at one of his properties, he has to be in a scene, according to many in the movie industry.

“The deal was that if you wanted to shoot in one of his buildings, you had to write him in a part,” Matt Damon told The Hollywood Reporter in 2017. “[Director] Martin Brest had to write something in ‘Scent of a Woman’ — and the whole crew was in on it. You have to waste an hour of your day with a bulls--t shot: Donald Trump walks in and Al Pacino’s like, ‘Hello, Mr. Trump!’ — you had to call him by name — and then he exits. You waste a little time so that you can get the permit, and then you can cut the scene out. But I guess in ‘Home Alone 2’ they left it in.”

Trump’s cameo also did not make it into the final cut of “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” back in 2015 — partly because touching his hair was strictly off-limits, and the scene was filmed in a barbershop, an insider told the Daily News at the time.
